Match 34: LSG vs CSK | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 34th match of the tournament between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Chennai Super Kings (CSK):

CSK is currently at the 3rd spot with 8 points which includes 4 wins in 6 matches and lost 2. In this season their bowling has been exceptionally good as compared to that of their bowling. In batting only 2-3 players are contributing which ultimately took the team score in a decent position. In a most awaited encounter against MI in the last match where Chennai’s bowlers ripped Rohit’s century in a waste.

In the last match, the team tried a new combo in the opening but that too failed. Ajinkya Rahane got the chance to open but got out early. At the start of this season he was batting well but with the tournament passing by his runs with the bat drying up. Till now he scored 124 runs and the best was 45. Also his strike rate went down to 125.25. On the other hand, Rachin Ravindra after showing some promising knocks at the start couldn’t hold that form much longer and got out early scoring some 20’s or less. He scored 133 runs till now.

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad is slowly getting back to his rhythm due to which he scored back to back 50’s. His consistency gives a huge boost to the batting line-up. Till now he has got 224 runs. As striker rate was his main concern due to his slow batting, he managed that well in the last match where he scored 69 runs with a strike rate of 172.50. Shivam Dube is also maintaining his consistency with the bat and is the team’s highest scorer with 242 runs with a strike rate of 163.51.

MS Dhoni came to bat at the last moment but his contribution makes him special. In the last match he only got to play 4 balls and in those balls he got 3 sixes and a double making the runs count to 20 and it was the difference between CSK and MI winning. He is striking with a thunderous strike rate which is 236.

Ravindra Jadeja’s performance has not been that good for which he is known. He didn’t get much runs with the bat and with the bowl after a terrific spell against KKR where he got 3 wickets and got the Player of the Match, lost his rhythm in the next match against MI and conceded 37 runs without taking any wickets.

Team’s main pace attack Mustafizur Rahman has been consistent with his bowling. He grabbed 10 wickets and is 3rd in the list of purple cap. His average is also good, which is 18.30. The other pacer Matheesha Pathirana also looked dangerous with his spell as he was getting back into his perfect line and length. After getting Player of the Match in the last match due to his 4 wickets makes his wicket tally to 8. His economy is 7.33 and the average is even better which is 11.

Tushar Deshpande also helped them as he got 6 wickets till now with an economy less than 8.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Ruturaj Gaikwad ©, Rachin Ravindra, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Daryl Mitchell, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Sameer Rizvi, Deepak Chahar, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande.

(Impact Player: Mustafizur Rahman)

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

After making a hat trick streak in their winning combination, now they go on a streak to make a hattrick streak in a losing combo. They lost 2 matches back to back which took them out of the top 4 and they are at 5th spot with 6 points in 6 matches. Their last defeat was against KKR where Kolkata made them helpless in both the departments.

KL Rahul in the last two matches played aggressively and this helped to boost his strike rate. Though after getting a solid start he failed to convert them into a big one due to which he only managed a single half-century so far which came in the very first match that they played. He scored 204 runs till now. Quinton de Kock after scoring 2 back to back 50+ runs, unable to get that touch again. After scoring his last 50 which came against RCB, he only managed 6,19 & 10.

The team is still in the process of finding a number 3 position. As they tried Devdutt Padikkal in that position but he failed to show his class with the very poor data which is 25 runs in 5 matches. In the last match Deepak Hooda got the chance but he only scored 8 runs. Nicholas Pooran is maintaining his form and providing valuable runs to the team especially in the death overs. Due to his consistency he is the team’s leading run scorer with 223 runs under his credit. Strike rate is also well maintained which is 161.59.

Marcus Stoinis and Ayush Badoni played a crucial knock in one match only. Stoinis played a match saving innings against GT where he got 58 runs while Badoni took his team from the danger of low score against DC where he got unbeaten 55 runs. In the remaining matches both of them were unable to provide much with the bat.

Looking at their bowling unit Yash Thakur is currently the team’s highest wicket-taker this season with 7 wickets under his pocket. But his economy is too poor which is close to 10 (9.92)), which he needs to maintain on a positive side. One happy note for the team might be that Mayank Yadav has been practising in the nets and if gets fit then it will be definitely a huge motivation.

Naveen-ul-Haq is still conceding many runs especially in the death overs due to which Shamar Joseph got the chance to play in the last match but he also credited many runs in his 4 overs and gave 47 runs. The team’s spin department has not been able to perform well till now as Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya failed to take wickets in most of the matches.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

KL Rahul (c/wk), Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Yash Thakur, Shamar Joseph, Mohsin Khan.

(Impact Player: Mayank Yadav/Arshad Khan)
