Match 29: MI vs CSK | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 29th match of the tournament between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Mumbai Indians (MI):

After starting the season with a hat trick of losses, the team is finally banged on with two back to back wins. In the last victory a pure rampage performance was shown by the players against RCB, especially Jasprit Bumrah who was the star of that match. Currently they are in 7th position with 4 points.

Rohit Sharma is consistent with this destructive gameplay and scored 156 runs till now. He got 1 half-century till now and a couple of 40’s. Once again he will definitely enjoy the Wankhede pitch and will play his brutal part. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan is looking more aggressive than Rohit as his strike rate is 182.95 in 5 matches. In the last match he scored 69 runs and gave his team a brilliant start.

Tilak Varma is also showing his consistency with the bat after providing runs in most of the matches in this season. He scored 143 runs till now with a strike rate of 147.42 and the best came against SRH where he scored 64 runs in 34  balls. Suryakumar Yadav has made his presence felt after registering a blasting half-century against RCB. In his first match he got out on a duck but in the next match he took just 17 balls to reach his half-century. He batted above 30 average at Wankhede.

Skipper Hardik Pandya also looked a little settled in his batting. He got a couple of 30’s and the team is waiting for his 50+ score. In the last match he scored 21 runs in just 6 balls and hit 3 sixes. Tim David and Romario Shepherd have proven in some of the matches there destroying the bowlers.

Jasprit Bumrah is looking lethal with his bowling and got the purple cap after taking fifer in the last match. He has 10 wickets till now in this season with a brilliant economy of 5.95. He is always a wicket taking option for the team and is standing by this role always. The other pacer Gerald Coetzee is looking good in terms of wickets as he has taken 8 till now but his economy tends towards the higher side which is 10.59.

Spinner Piyush Chawla hasn’t shown any impact till now due to which he has to sit outside in the last match. In his place Shreyas Gopal was given the chance where he got 1 wicket in his 4 overs by giving away 32 runs.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Hardik Pandya ©, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Shreyas Gopal, Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Madhwal.

(Impact Player: Mohammad Nabi)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK):

This team has shown a lot of impact again where all the players are performing well in all the departments. They are 3rd in the points table with 6 points in 5 matches. After losing two matches back to back they are back in the winning track as they got a dominating performance against KKR where they stopped their winning streak.

After some low scores finally skipper Rututraj Gaikwad is looking in his way after scoring unbeaten 67 runs in the last match and took his team to the victory. He has till now scored 155 runs but the strike rate is pretty low which is 117.42. Rachin Ravindra after started the season with a blast in back to back two matches, he looked a little derailed from this performance. In the last three matches he scored 2, 12 &15. Still his strike rate is 175, which almost compensates for Gaikwad’s slowness.

Shivam Dube is looking brilliant again in the yellow jersey. He is currently the highest scorer from the team and has scored 176 runs till now. He is batting with an average 44, which ultimately helped in score boosting. Ajinkya Rahane started this season with some destruction but then it somehow looked missing from his batting as he took more balls and couldn’t score much. 119 runs were credited by him till now.

Daryl Mitchell hasn’t impressed yet with his batting performance as his highest score is 34 in this season. MS Dhoni didn’t get much time to bat but still he showed his ruthlessness against DC where he scored 37 runs in just 16 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja is contributing decently in both the departments. With the bat he got 84 runs and with the bowl he took 4 wickets till now. In the last match he bowled well, where he got 3 wickets in 4 overs by giving away only 18 runs. He also carried a huge advantage against Suryakumar Yadav where he dismissed him thrice by giving away only 45 runs with a strike rate of 76.27.

Mustafizur Rahman joined the team and is continuing his form from where he left. He has 9 wickets till now in his pocket and is 3rd in the list of purple cap. His partner Tushar Deshpande got 5 wickets till now with an economy of 8.06. Matthesha Pathirana is having some slight niggle due to which he missed the last couple of matches but he might join the squad again.

Deepak Chahar has taken 4 wickets till now but his economy is pretty high which is 9.16 and definitely wanted to change stats.

Pitch Report:

This match will be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The pitch highly assisted the batsmen where balls came easily into the bat. Pacers might get little benefit as compared to that of spinners. Batsmen can target the small boundaries. Overall a paradise to the batters and chasing might get benefit.

The weather will  remain sunny throughout the day as it will touch down 31 degree celsius in the daytime and will drop down to 27 degree celsius at night. The humidity will be more than 60% which makes little discomfort to the players.
