Match 27: RR vs PBKS | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 27th match of the tournament between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Rajasthan Royals (RR):

They were the only team who remained undefeated but their winning streak got shattered when they lost in the last match where GT’s Rashid Khan clinched the victory from Rajasthan’s mouth after hitting boundary in the last ball. Still they are at the top of the table with 8 points as they won 4 matches out of 5.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is struggling in this season after scoring only 63 runs in 5 matches. Last season he was spectacular with the bat after scoring 600+ runs. Though the tournament is not yet over and he has the capacity to show some destruction with the bat for which he is well known for. Jos Butler after struggling with his form has hit a brilliant century against RCB and is looking back in contention for his destructive form again. He scored 143 runs till now.

Skipper Sanju Samson is in his top notch form and has scored 246 runs till now. His average is 82 and hit 3 half-centuries till now. He is striking well with the strike rate of 157.69. Riyan Parag is creating some sparkles for the team with the bat this season. He is currently at 2nd spot in the orange cap list with 261 runs. His average is 87 and he batted with the strike rate of 158.18. Before this season he got only 2 half-centuries but in this IPL he has already scored three 50+ knocks.

As the top four are performing well till now due to which hard hitters Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel didn’t get much chance to show their class of destruction.

The bowling department is looking in top form. If one bowler fails the other is there to take up the challenge. They have a lot of choices and most of them stand up to the mark. Yuzvendra Chahal is leading the way for the team in terms of wickets as he got 10 wickets till now and is holding the purple cap along with Jasprit Bumrah.

Pacers Nandre Burger and Trent Boult threw some fierce bowling at the start and end of the innings. Burger is playing his first season and has taken 6 wickets till now whereas Boult has got 5 wickets to his name. Kuldeep Sen also looked good in the last match as he got 3 wickets.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Sanju Samson (c/wk), Jos Butler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Nandre Burger, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen.

(Impact Player: Sandeep Sharma)

Punjab Kings (PBKS):

The big names in this team didn’t perform up to the mark till now due to which they just won 2 out of 5 matches. Those two victories also came in the last over. The dominant performance is missing from the team. Only one thing goes into their favour as the new faces are performing brilliantly. Their last defeat also finished in a closed encounter where they lost the match against SRH only by 2 runs.

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan is currently the most runs scorer for the team as he got 152 runs with the bat. Except in 2 matches where he got 45 & 70, he was looking little discomfort in his shot selection. His strike rate is dipping down to 125.62.

Two new faces Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have been brilliant with the bat till now, especially Shashank whose fighting spirit till the end makes him more valuable. Shashank has scored 137 runs till now with a strike rate of 195.71 while Ashutosh has 64 runs in 2 matches with a strike rate of 200. Both of them played destructive knocks especially in the death overs.

Sam Curran started the season with a fantastic 63 runs knock with the bat but after that he missed his rhythm and got out early. But with the bowl he is improving well and has taken 6 wickets till now, the only thing he needs to consider is the economy which is 9.07. Due to the hamstring injury Liam Livingstone hasn’t shown his services to the team in the last two matches and if the injury sustains then he will this match also.

Due to Livingstone’s injury, Sikander Raza got the chance to perform but he has not played any impactful innings till now. In the last he scored 28 runs but didn’t get much better.

Arshdeep Singh after some bad performance looked into his lethal form again as he grabbed 4 wickets in the last match by giving away only 29 runs in his 4 overs. He currently has 8 wickets in his pocket and might again look lethal as he will be playing in the same pitch. Kagiso Rabada is not behind him as he got 7 wickets till now with an economy of 8.65.

Harshal Patel for the first time in this season has conceded less than 10 runs per over in the last match. He has 6 wickets to his name till now. Harpreet Brar has been brilliant with his bowling as he got 5 wickets with a brilliant economy of 7.18.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

Shikhar Dhawan ©, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Sikander Raza, Jitesh Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, Ashutosh Singh, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada.
