Match 28: KKR vs LSG | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 28th match of the tournament between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The match between them will start at 3:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):

One of the strongest sides in this season, Kolkata has provided a balanced side. Their batting and bowling both are going well till now. They have destructive batters who can launch their power hitting anytime and the bowlers are also bowling some economical spells who took them to 2nd position in the points table. They lost one out of 4 matches and the defeat came in their last encounter when Chennai’s spectacular performance stopped the unbeaten streak of Knight Riders.

Sunil Narine has been providing the best in both the departments. He has scored 161 runs till now with a fantastic strike rate of 189.41. His destructive approach at the start of the innings took Kolkata to a blazing start. Not only this he is bowling well as he got 4 wickets with an economy of 7.38. Phil Salt, the other opener of the team started the season with a brilliant half-century after in the next 3 matches his scores got decreased as he scored 30,18 & 0. He needs to step out again.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer is yet to show his brilliancy with the bat. In most of the matches he got a good start but was unable to take that much further. He scored 91 runs in this season till now and his highest is 39 which was against RCB. Angkrish Radhvanshi is a hard hitter of the ball which he already showed in the match against DC where he scored 54 runs in 27 balls.

Andre Russell, the nightmare of the bowlers, has been performing well till now. In the match against SRH he scored 64 runs in 25 balls which was in Kolkata and now this match will also be in Kolkata he wants to replicate that performance again. With his bowling he is contributing well as he has got 5 wickets till now.

The bowling department of this team looked well till now except the most expensive player Mitchell Starc. He only got 2 wickets in this season with a poor economy of 11. He needs to correct his line and length as he is known for his aggressive spells especially in the death overs. Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana are little consistent with their performance as both got 5 wickets till now.

Varun Chakravarthy though got 4 wickets till now but with an economy of 9.57 which is literally hard to believe.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Shreyas Iyer ©, Sunil Narine, Phil Salt (wk), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Mitchell Starc, Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

The performance of this team is also decent till now. They won 3 and lost 2 in their 5 matches till now. They are currently standing at 4th position in the points table. Just one day before they lost the match against DC where they failed for the first time defending 160+ runs in their home.

Skipper KL Rahul is playing well till now and has scored 165 runs till now with one half-century to his name. The main thing which was of concern was his strike rate but in the last match his strike rate was 177.27. His other partner Quinton de Kock has also scored well with 2 half-centuries till now in this season till now. He has scored 164 runs till now.

Nicholas Pooran is going against the bowlers in this season as he is striking 167.92 till now. But for the first time he got out on a duck while in 3 matches he was unbeaten till the end. He has got 178 runs till now in 5 matches. Marcus Stoinis played a useful knock against GT where he scored 58 runs which became the ultimate match difference in the end as none of the other batters felt comfortable to bat in that pitch.

Ayush Badoni finally got his chance to show his skills in the batting after scoring unbeaten 55 runs in the last match. His brilliant batting took the team out from the danger and got par 160 runs.

In their bowling line-up, Yash Thakur is top in the list from the team as he grabbed 7 wickets till now and his best came against GT where he got 5 wickets. Mayank Yadav who created history by delivering the fastest ball in this season has been out from the last match and might not be seen in this match also due to injury. He has taken 6 wickets till now.

Krunal Pandya hasn’t been much consistent with the bat but with the bowl he has bowled some economical spells except the last match where he was beaten brutally and gave 45 runs in his 3 overs. Still he has the economy 7.4 till now and he has taken 5 wickets till now. Ravi Bishnoi has been very consistent with his spells but in the last two matches he was looking in great touch. He also got 5 wickets till now.
