Match 14: MI vs RR | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 14th match of the tournament between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Mumbai Indians (MI):

One of the strongest teams is yet to open their victory account. Under the leadership team performed better in both of their matches but still they missed those in the death overs. Their first match where GT narrowly got the upper hand and won it by 6 runs and in their 2nd match it was just deadly for Mumbai as SRH threw a highest IPL score against them and won the match by 31 runs.

Mumbai’s former skipper Rohit Sharma performed decent in both of the matches where he got 43 & 26 runs. He has a striking strike rate of 168.29 till now. The other opening partner Ishan Kishan batted better in the last match as he scored 34 runs in 13 balls. He also has the capacity to go big after playing a few balls.

Tilak Varma looked lethal in the last match where he scored 64 runs in just 34 balls. At the time he was present, the team certainly looked in a winning position but after his departure things suddenly changed. Dewald Brevis also batted well in the first match as he got 46 runs. Tim David also set the sparks after he showed his beast mode against RR where he took just 22 balls to reach 42 runs and remain unbeaten at the end.

Hardik Pandya is missing his form in both the departments. In the first match where he got one six and one four in the final over and then got out and the match also slipped from their hands. Then again in the last match he was having the lowest strike rate (120.00) as the other batters in that match batted close to 200 or more. Also he is unable to deliver economical spells in the initial overs and throws many runs in his spell.

Looking at their bowling line-up only Jasprit Bumrah has some better figures to show. In both the matches, he was the most economical among the bowlers from the side. He has 3 wickets to his name till now. If Mumbai needs to get a solid start then he must open the bowling attack as he is a good wicket taking option and can also create problems for the batters easily.

Gerald Coetzee also got 3 wickets till now but he has economy of 10.50 in 2 matches but he needs to be improved. He also has the ability to hit big sixes and fours but this part is yet to be watched. The most experienced bowler Piyush Chawla got 2 wickets with an economy of over 13. Last year he was the leading wicket taker from the side but this season it didn’t get that start which he wanted.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Hardik Pandya ©, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, Naman Dhir, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee.

Rajasthan Royals (RR):

Rajasthan is undefeated in both of their matches. They are performing as a whole team and the results come in their favour. Their first victory came when they defeated LSG by 20 runs and then their 2nd victory came when they defeated DC by 12 runs

The openers of the team haven’t performed well yet. Yashasvi Jasiwal has scored 24 & 5 runs while Jos Butler scored 11 runs in both the matches. But the batting friendly pitch of Wankhede might change the stats for them.

Skipper Sanju Samson has batted well. Against Lucknow in the first match he scored a brilliant unbeaten 82 runs which took his team to 190 par. He has a cool and calm mind which helped the team especially during defending the total. Riyan Parag is playing the game to the fullest with the scores of 43 & 84 runs. He is currently the team’s leading run scorer in this season. The  batting promotion also helped him a lot and having a blazing strike rate of 171.62.

Duruv Jurel scored 20 runs in both the matches and he has the ability to hit long in the death overs. Shimron Hetmyer also can show the destruction part of him in the death overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 3 wickets till now with an economy of 7.33. Whereas the new addition Nandre Burger also took the same wickets as Chahal. Avesh Khan’s brilliant last over against Delhi helped his team to get a victory at last. Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t performed well till now as his economy is 9.29 which is way more than his overall stats in the IPL.
