Co-host nation West Indies announced their 15 member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World 2024. Rovman Powell will be the leader of the team while Alzarri Joseph will be seen as his deputy.
Shamar Joseph makes his entry among the 15 members who will make his debut in the ICC event. He played only 2 test matches. To his selection, chairman of selector Desmond Haynes said,
“You really can’t question Shamar Joseph’s skills. You saw him in Australia. We were looking at someone up front bowling the first powerplay and he ticked the boxes.”
Destructive opener Kyle Mayers missed the opportunity to represent this tournament. While Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell who have shown great performances in the IPL will be there to see in the team.
Earlier New Zealand, South Africa, England, India and Australia have announced their squad for the upcoming tournament.
Haynes also added about the team, “I’m making it very clear to everybody that whatever team that you hear us put out today, that team we feel is going to win the World Cup.”

Head coach Daren Sammy has requested BCCI to release the players who are playing in the IPL at proper time, so that they can make the preparation. He also added that he is in talks with Sunil Narine to play the event.
The last date to change the squad is May 25.
