Virat Kohli Heads Home, Gaikwad Misses Out

Virat Kohli has returned to India from South Africa due to his family emergency. He was set to play the Test series against the Proteas which will start from 26th December.

Exact reason for the emergency is still not known. He will not feature in the practice match. But he will return to South Africa before the first test match as it was revealed by the BCCI.

On the other hand Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad will not play the test series against Proteas as he is still not recovered from the finger injury. BCCI said, “He hasn’t fully recovered from the blow he sustained to his ring finger while fielding in the 2nd ODI. He remains under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.”

Rajat Patidar was named as his replacement.

Earlier Mohammad Shami has been ruled out from the test series as he is not fully recovered from the ankle injury he got during the World Cup. While Ishan Kishan also requested the board to keep him aside from the tour due to his personal reasons and in reply BCCI accepted his request and Srikar Bharat named as his replacement.
