Mitchell Marsh clarifies the World Cup trophy incident

Australian all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh who was highly criticized when he put both of his feet over the World Cup trophy. He came with the reply that he didn’t show any disrespect to the trophy. 

In a recent interview with Australia’s SEN he said, “There was obviously no disrespect meant in that photo at all. I haven’t given it too much thought. I haven’t seen a lot on social media even though everyone tells me it’s gone off. There’s nothing in that.”

Many of the Indian fans felt it was highly disrespectful towards the trophy and as a result much hatred was given to Marsh. Mohammad Shami who got most wickets in 2024 World Cup quoted with ‘hurt’ after the incident. 

Marsh was the 2nd highest scorer for his team with 2 centuries and his 170+ was his best performance in the ODIs. he also claimed 2 wickets which he took against Netherlands.

Australia got the 6th title to their name (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023). They are more advanced than the next team who got the most titles (India and West Indies – 2). They beat India easily in the finals and made a strong comeback after losing 2 back to back matches in the league stages.
