Surprise boost for South Africa before the T20 World Cup

South Africa one of the best captains Faf du Plessis might return to the international circuit. He is one of the most successful skipper from the country. He might be seen in the T20 World Cup.

Du Plessis last played his international match was against Pakistan in the 2nd Test match in 2021. After that he was not introduced into the squad.

He is a potential player in all the formats. In the last IPL he was the 2nd highest scorer of the tournament with 730 runs in his credit and also was the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He has 23 international centuries to his name.

Faf du Plessis said,

“I believe that I can return to the international circuit. We have been speaking about this for the last couple of years. It’s just figuring out the balance of the T20 WC next year. It’s certainly something we have spoken about the new coach.

I do a lot of hard work to ensure I look after my body to be able to play this brilliant game we love so much. When you do get a little bit older, you have to make sure you put in the work. Otherwise the hamstring and other body parts do not work that well. There is a lot of fast running and a lot of stuff to make sure that you can play against the best players in the World.”

South Africa head coach, Rob Walter, is currently in talks with the ex skipper and he said, “Given that some of our frontline bowlers are missing out and there are guys, let me throw it out just to create some media hype – like Faf du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw as well as Quinton de Kock that could well be considered for a T20 World Cup.

And then also the SA20 (South Africa domestic tournament) that happens next year. 80% of the side picks itself but there is definitely a space for other guys to get themselves into the conversation.”
