Match 38: RR vs MI | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 38th match of the tournament between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

In their previous encounter in this IPL, a full dominance shown by Rajasthan in both the departments, results in easy win.

Teams Analysis:

Mumbai Indians (MI):

Mumbai has been performing decent till now as they are currently in 6th place in the points table with 6 points in 7 matches having won 3 and lost 4. Their batting is much more stable than their bowling. Except Bumrah, the other bowlers in the team have not provided any influential spells till now, which makes it tough for them to stop the opposition.

Rohit Sharma is currently leading the team in terms of run scorer. He scored 297 runs till now and is 4th in the list of orange cap. His strike rate is 164.09 and hit 1 century till now. He can accelerate the innings anytime he wants. He is consistent with his batting and providing at least 30 or more in most of the matches. Ishan Kishan has been seen little off-track as he was unable to convert his start into a big one. He played well against RCB where he scored 69 runs but in the remaining most of the matches he couldn’t provide much.

Suryakumar Yadav in his 4 innings he scored two 50+ runs and two ducks. Till now he scored 130 runs with a strike rate of 171.05. If he gets going then it will be easy to score huge runs for him. Tilak Varma is also showing his consistency as he scored 208 runs till now. His best was against SRH where he scored 64 runs and got a couple of 30’s to his name.

Hardik Pandya’s performance is depicting the heat of captaincy. He didn’t do well in both the departments till now. With the bat he got 141 runs with a strike rate of 146.88 and with the bowl he took 4 wickets with an economy of 11. Tim David was also unable to perform the role of finisher well till now as he got only 142 runs to his name.

Jasprit Bumrah is showing his world class bowling performance after grabbing 13 wickets in 7 matches and is holding the purple cap. His economy is under 6 (5.96), which makes him even more dangerous. He is the only bowler in the team who is constantly providing economical spells. Gerald Coetzee also supported him in terms of wickets as he got 12 till now. But he is mostly expensive in his spell as the economy is close to 10 (9.92).

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Hardik Pandya ©, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Mohammad Nabi, Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Gopal.

(Impact Player: Akash Madhwal)

Rajasthan Royals (RR):

They are the table topper in this season till now with 12 points into their pocket. They won 6 matches out of 7 and lost 1. They are looking forward to an easy qualification in the playoffs. If they keep going like this, then definitely they will finish the points table at the top of it. Their batting seems to be more balanced as compared to their bowling.

Jos Butler after hitting 2 centuries in the chasing cause makes the team reliable to him heavily during the chase. In both the matches one against RCB and one against KKR, the team looked little struggled but his patience level took the team to the victory. Especially against KKR in the last match, where Knight Riders moved forward to an easy win but this man changed the atmosphere in his favour and won the match in the thrilling last ball. He has scored 250 runs till now.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t looked so confident with his gameplay till now. With 121 runs in 7 matches, this didn’t justify his talent. He got a couple of good starts but was unable to carry that much longer. Sanju Samson is also performing decently till now with 276 runs which includes 3 half-centuries. He is striking well with the strike rate of 155.06.

Riyan Parag is looking brilliant in this season as he is currently 3rd in the list of orange cap with 318 runs. He also has 3 half-centuries to his name and is performing consistently with a strike rate of 161.42 and the average being 63.6. Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell have been providing valuable runs towards the end whereas Dhruv Jurel has yet to find a valuable knock.

Looking at their bowling performance, Yuzvendra Chahal once again delivers for the team. He has currently 12 wickets till now and is 2nd in the list of purple cap. Kuldeep Yadav and him are the only two spinners in the list of purple cap.

After him Trent Boult and Avesh Khan stand in wicket tally as both grabbed 7 wickets in this season till now. Kuldeep Sen and Nandre Burger both got 6 wickets each. One of the most experienced bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t impressed with his bowling so far as he got just 1 wicket in 6 matches he played.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

Sanju Samson (c/wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Butler, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Kuldeep Sen, Yuzvendra Chahal.

(Impact Player: Avesh Khan)

Pitch Report:

The match will be played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. This will be Rajasthan’s last match in this season at Jaipur. The pitch basically assists batters under lights as the ball comes easily into the bat. Bowlers might be treated harshly in this pitch, spinners might get some support in the 1st innings of the match. Therefore chasing will be easier if restricted below 180.

Weather Report:

The weather will remain sunny as the temperature will touch 37 degree celsius during the daytime and at night it will go down to 25 degree celsius. There is a little chance of rain but it might not affect the match very long. Humidity will be approx 20%.

Best 11 for the Match:
