Match 20: MI vs DC | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 20th match of the tournament between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The match between them will start at 3:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Mumbai Indians (MI):

The five times winning champion has yet to find their first victory in this season. They are the only team who doesn’t have a win till now in this season. Losing 3 out of 3 and their last defeat where RR just uprooted them from every department and won it by 6 wickets. After so sad things now they get a reason to cherish as their star batter Suryakumar Yadav has joined the squad and is looking in contention in playing 11.

Former MI skipper Rohit Sharma started the season with a blasting knock of 43 runs but after that he got just 26 & 0 with the bat. He likes to play in Wankhede, but getting out on a duck in the first match at Wankhede and he definitely wants to improve his stats again. He is batting at a strike rate of 164.29. Ishan Kishan also not looking good with the bat yet as he got 50 runs in 3 matches. He is yet to find his rhythm again.

Tilak Varma is the only batsman in the team who is contributing well with the bat. He has scored 121 runs till now with a strike rate of 147.56. He scored the only 50+ score which came against SRH and is the only batter in the team who got past 50. Suryakumar Yadav’s addition to the team will definitely make the team stronger in terms of batting. He is currently the beast in this shortest format of cricket.

Mumbai’s new skipper Hardik Pandya didn’t perform well as per the expectations. Although he looked a little solid in batting against Rajasthan, where he scored 34 runs in 21 balls but couldn’t take the innings much longer. He has got 69 runs till now with the bat and with the bowl he took 1 wicket. His economy is also too high which is 10.86.

Tim David didn’t get so aggressive in this IPL except against SRH where he scored unbeaten 42 runs. He is a hard hitter for the team but he scored 11 in 10 balls against GT and 17 in 24 balls against RR.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the only thing in the team who has performed well. His economy is 6.33 and has taken 3 wickets. Although he didn’t get any wickets in the last 2 matches, he still managed to provide economical spells. Gerald Coetzee the other speedstar of the team has taken 3 wickets till now but he gave easy runs to the opponents. He has an economy of 11.43 till now.

Piyush Chawla, team’s most experienced bowler and last year’s highest wicket taker for Mumbai has taken 2 wickets till now and conceded many runs as he got 10.38 economy.

Delhi Capitals (DC):

Delhi Capitals is currently standing on 9th spot with just one victory in 4 matches and losses remaining 3. They lost back to back 2 matches and they need to get back to their core strength again. The last defeat was against KKR where ruthless Kolkata showed no mercy to Delhi and won the match by 106 runs.

David Warner has been consistent with the bat so far in this season having scored 143 runs in 4 matches with a strike rate of 143.69. In the batting paradise pitch of Wankhede, he might be seen in flourishing the boundaries again. Prithvi Shaw in 2 matches has scored 43 & 10. He might be dangerous too in these kinds of pitches.

Rishabh Pant has gained the momentum of his batting and scored back to back half-centuries. He is currently topping the table for his team in terms of runs as he got 152 runs under his belt till now. Tristan Stubbs also looked good against Kolkata as he scored his maiden IPL half-century. He is a hard hitter of the ball and might be dangerous towards the death overs.

Aussie all-rounder Mitchell Marsh hasn’t performed well till. He has scored 61 runs with the bat and got just 1 wicket with an economy of over 12. He has the ability to hit harder but he missed that spark. On the other hand Axar Patel also failed to show his class as he registered just 43 runs with the bat and got only 2 wickets till now. Though he has the best economy among the other bowlers in the team as he got 7.

Khaleel Ahmed has taken the most wickets for his team as he got 6 wickets till now. He is currently in best form and batsmen find little difficulty to play in the death overs. Team is majorly missing Kuldeep Yadav’s presence, as he got most economical in the middle overs and took wickets when team needed the most.

Anrich Nortje and Mukesh Kumar both got 4 wickets in this IPL but both of them conceded many runs in the death overs. Ishant Sharma is back on track and has got 3 wickets till now. His delivery against Andre Russell in the last match, got him dismissed and was applauded by Russell also.
