Delhi Capitals (DC) opened their victory account in this season after stopping the winning streak of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). They won the match by 20 runs.
Delhi scored 191/5 in 20 overs and in reply Chennai scored 171/6 in 20 overs.
Chennai won their last encounter, as they showed full domination against GT and won by 63 runs whereas Delhi lost their last encounter, and lost by 12 runs against RR.

Delhi got a perfect start as they got 93 runs for the first wicket in under 10 overs. Prithvi Shaw (43 runs) sparkled in his first match of the season and his partner David Warner (52 runs) scored his first fifty of the season. Warner hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in his knock.
Then the skipper Rishabh Pant (51 runs) scored his first half-century one and a half years later. This knock will definitely boost him in further matches. He played 32 balls and hit 4 fours and 3 sixes. He was the reason that the team got 190 runs par.
Super Kings Matteesha Pathirana got 3 wickets while Ravindra Jadeja and Mustafizur Rahman got 1 wicket each.
For the first time Chennai struggled in their opening as the team lost their opening pair in just 7 runs. Then Ajinkya Rahane (45 runs) and Daryl Mitchell (34 runs) stabilized the team as they both scored 68 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Towards the end it was Dhoni’s show as he scored unbeaten 37 runs in just 16 balls which includes 4 fours and 3 sixes. He along with Ravindra Jadeja (21 runs not out) contributed 51 runs in just 23 balls. But unfortunately they were left behind by certain runs.
Capitals Mukesh Kumar grabbed 3 wickets for the team. Khaleel Ahmed settled with 2 wickets while Axar Patel got 1 wicket.
