Punjab Kings (PBKS) did an unbelievable work after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a world record chase by 8 wickets. It was the first time in the history of T20 cricket that such a huge target was chased down.
Knight Riders scored 261/6 in 20 overs and in reply Kings posted their best T20 score after scoring 262/8 in 18.4 overs.
Kolkata in their last match got a nail biting win against RCB while Punjab’s dream was shattered by Rahul Tewatia’s superb knock.
After winning the toss, Punjab goes for bowling.
A blistering start given by the openers of Men in Purple as for the 1st wicket they scored 138 runs in 10.2 overs. Sunil Narine continued his superb performance with the bat and this time he scored 71 runs in just 32 balls which includes 9 fours and 4 sixes. He was well supported by Phil Salt from the other end and scored 75 runs in 37 balls and hit 6 fours and 6 sixes.
Venkatesh Iyer then joined the party later on and scored 39 runs. Shreyas Iyer (28 runs) and Andre Russell (24 runs) also contributed well due to which they got their 2nd best score in the IPL.
Arshdeep Singh got 2 wickets. Sam Curran, Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar got 1 wicket each.
Then in the chase Kings got a perfect start which they needed. Prabhsimran scored his first half-century of this season and scored a super fast 54 runs and hit 4 fours and 5 sixes. But then the destroyer came in the form of Jonny Bairstow.
He just showed full rampage mode and scored unbeaten 108 runs in just 48 deliveries. In his knock he hit 8 fours and 9 sixes. Then Shashank Singh joined the party and he also showed the destruction in his 68 runs knock for which he took 28 balls. He hit 2 fours and 8 sixes in his innings.
Only Sunil Narine got a wicket.
