Match 44: LSG vs RR | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 44th match of the tournament between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

These two teams played against each other which was their first match of this IPL, where Rajasthan rampage mode took the match away from Lucknow

Teams Analysis:

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

After winning two matches back to back against CSK, they entered into the 4th position with 10 points in 8 matches. They won 5 and lost 3 till now. Their back to back win against Chennai got their spot by replacing them into the 5th spot. Batting is their strength while bowling seems too weak as most of the bowlers lack experience.

KL Rahul the leader of the team is leading in the runs department from his team as he has got 302 runs till now. At the start of the season his strike rate was quite slow but now he has improved in this department and took that to 141.12. Quinton de Kock has registered 3 half-centuries till now for the team but has managed just 228 runs only. He was little out of the match in the recent few matches but was looking little solid against CSK where he scored 54 runs, but then again in the next match he got out on a zero.

Then the match winner of the last match, Marcus Stoinis who took the match for his team single-handedly. He scored a brilliant century against them and scored the highest scorer in the winning chase. He has got 259 runs till now with a strike rate of 159.75. Devdutt Padikkal has had a poor tournament going so far as he only scored 38 runs in 6 matches with a strike rate of 73.08.

Nicholas Pooran has been the best in the death overs for his team and has contributed in most of the matches. He scored 280 runs with an average of 70. He got unbeaten 4 times. He scored one half-century and that came against RR where he scored 64 runs.

Krunal Pandya though didn’t get enough chances to bat but with the bowl he got some economic spells as he got 5 wickets with an economy of 7.43. Yash Thakur is leading the team in the wickets department with 9 wickets to his name but his spells are mostly expensive as his economy is 10.43.

Mayank Yadav who missed a few matches due to injury is expected to return in this match as bowling coach Morne Morkel revealed this news in the match against CSK. This will definitely boost the team’s confidence in the pace department.

Mohsin Khan and Matt Henry haven’t delivered much with their bowling till now. Whereas spinner Ravi Bishnoi also did not look good in his form this season.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

KL Rahul (c/wk), Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Matt Henry, Yash Thakur, Mayank Yadav.

(Impact Player: Mohsin Khan)

Rajasthan Royals (RR):

This team is making their chances bright to the playoffs as they secured 14 points in 8 matches. They won 7 and lost just 1, a pure domination shown by them. They are excelling in both batting and bowling. Most of the matches a pure combined team performance was seen, due to which results mostly came into their favour.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was seen struggling a little with his form but scored a fantastic century against MI in the last match and took his team to an easy victory. This definitely gives a huge boost to his performance in further matches. Jos Butler already scored 2 centuries in the winning cause. Both of them came while chasing. These two are the only openers in this season who registered centuries.

Skipper Sanju Samson is batting brilliantly as he scored 314 runs till now which includes 3 half-centuries. He is batting with an average of 62.8 and his best was against LSG where he scored unbeaten 82 runs and was awarded the Player of the Match. Riyan Parag is little ahead of him with 318 runs under his credit in 7 innings. He also contributed three 50+ knocks to the team and has an average of 63.6 and a healthy strike rate of 161.42.

Due to the continuous performing of these 4 players the remaining batters didn’t get much chance to perform. Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Dhruv Jurel didn’t get many chances to show their power hitting.

Looking at their bowling, Yuzvendra Chahal is topping the list again with 13 wickets to his pocket. He is currently wearing the purple cap along with Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel. He is a key wicket-taking option for the team and he delivers in most of his spells.

Pacers Trent Boult and Avesh Khan also assisted him in the wicket-taking department. Boult has taken 9 while Avesh has 8 wickets to his name.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

Sanju Samson (c/wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Butler, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Pitch Report:

The match will be played at Ekana stadium, Lucknow. The first two matches resulted in bowler friendly wickets where it was found hard to chase above 160, but in the next two matches pitches were suitable for batting as the chasing teams easily chased down targets above 160. Therefore it is again expected to be batting friendly wickets and team batting second might get the upper hand.

Weather Report:

The weather is expected to be hot and sunny but there might be a little chance of rain which is approx to be 10% but it will not damage the match much longer. During daytime the temperature will touch 40 degree celsius and at evening it will touch 25 degree celsius.

Best 11 for the Match:

Jos Butler, Sanju Samson, Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Marcus Stoinis, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Mayank Yadav.
