Teams Analysis:

Mumbai Indians (MI):

They are currently in the 8th position with 6 points in 8 matches having won 3 and lost 5, but still they are in the contention for the playoffs. Looking at both departments, their batting seems a little stronger than their bowling. In most of their matches, fielding was highly sloppiness.

Rohit Sharma is in best of his form and scored the most runs for his team having scored 303 runs with a fantastic strike rate of 162.90. Till now he only scored a century which came against CSK where he scored unbeaten 105 runs in 63 balls. In most of the matches, he gave the team a destructive start. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan has failed to contribute with the bat in the last three matches. He has scored 192 runs with a strike rate of 168.42.

Suryakumar Yadav has scored two half-centuries till now and has contributed 140 runs with a strike rate of 166.67. Tilak Varma is the other batter in the team who has been contributing consistently with the bat. He has scored 273 runs with a strike rate of 151.67 which includes 2 half-centuries. His best was against RR where he scored 65 runs in the last match.

Hardik Pandya the skipper of the team has been unable to perform in both the departments as he scored only 151 runs and has taken 4 wickets in 10.94 economy. He needs to step up and contribute healthfully with the bat and bowl. Nehal Wadhera played his first match of the season in the last match where he scored brilliantly 49 runs in just 24 balls.

Tim David has been a little inconsistent with his power hitting.

In bowling department only Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee are showing their brilliancy, rest all of them unable to perform well. Bumrah is holding the purple cap along with Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel as each of them got 13 wickets till now. His economy is also brilliant which is 6.38 and makes batters hard to play against him.

Coetzee though has taken 12 till now but his economy is little on the higher side which is 10.11. Spinners Shreyas Gopal and Piyush Chawla have not performed up to the standards they possess. Both of them have taken 3 wickets each till now.

Delhi Capitals (DC):

Their fighting spirit makes them in contention to be able to make their place into the playoffs. They are in 6th place with 8 points in matches in which they won 4 and lost 5. Their batting seems to be getting better as the tournament progresses and their bowling performance has shown little ups and down till now.

Prithvi Shaw got the perfect start for him as well for the team but in later matches he was not so consistent with the bat, especially in the last three matches where he scored 7,16 and 11. Among those three, the last two were played in Delhi. He needs to be more determined as he got out mostly in the powerplay. Jake Fraser-McGurk has been seen in a destructive mode as he is striking with 211.69 in 4 matches. He also scored 50+ runs two times and has a total of 163 runs.

Skipper Rishabh Pant has been in good touch with the bat as has scored 342 runs and is the highest scorer from the team and 3rd in the list of purple cap. He scored 3 half-centuries till now and with a fantastic strike rate of 161.32. In the last match he scored 88 runs in 43 balls against GT in which he scored 30 runs in the last over against Mohit Sharma. Tristan Stubbs also showed his destructiveness especially in the death overs and has a strike rate of 192.31 till now with a total run of 225. Out of 8 innings he got not out 4 times.

Axar Patel finally got the opportunity to show his skills in the batting also. In the last match against GT, he scored brilliant 66 runs in 43 balls. His promotion in the batting order helped a lot to him. In his bowling he has taken 7 wickets with a brilliant economy of 7.06.

Kuldeep Yadav is leading the team’s wicket table with 12 wickets into his pocket. His economy is 7.54 and is a dangerous bowler in the middle overs. He stands 4th in the list of purple cap. The pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar also assist him in wicket taking. Both of them have taken 10 wickets each.
