The 39th match of the tournament between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

The last encounter among these two teams were against each other where they met in Ekana and Lucknow got an easy chase over Chennai.

Teams Analysis:

Chennai Super Giants (CSK):

They are standing 4th in the points table with 8 points in 7 matches in which they won 4 and lost 3. Till now they have been performing decently in both the departments. In most of the matches a combined team effort has been seen which converts those into the victory. Also in their home ground they are having the most winning percentage which is above 70.

Ajinkya Rahane has been given the opportunity to open for his team and in 2 matches he did this and scored 5 and 36 runs. Not a decent season is going till now for him as he only managed 160 runs and is yet to score a 50+ knock. Rachin Ravindra’s performance has been dropped drastically as the opener in the first 2 matches scored 37 and 46 with the strike rate over 200. Then in the next 5 he added only 50 more runs and the strike rate dropped down to below 120.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has sent himself to the number 3 position and this eventually worked for him as his strike rate also improved. He has scored 241 runs with 2 half-centuries till now. Shivam Dube is also excellent with the bat and is highest scorer from the side with 245 runs under his credit. He also hit 2 half-centuries till now and the strike rate is also 150+.

MS Dhoni has been sensational with his power hitting in the death overs. He scored 87 runs in 5 innings with a destructive strike rate of 255.88. His average is also 87 and the valuable runs he added to the team towards the end, makes it a competitive total. Ravindra Jadeja got promoted in the last match and scored a brilliant unbeaten 57 runs against LSG. with his bowling till now except against KKR where he got 3 wickets, was not effective till now.

Mustafizur Rahman has got most wickets for the team after getting 11 wickets till now. But his economy is towards the higher side which is 9.42. Despite this he is a wicket-taking option for the team and highly dangerous in the death overs. Matheesha Pathirana has been consistent with his performance as he got 9 wickets in 4 matches with an economy 7.31.

Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar didn’t impress much with their performances. Tushar got 6 while Chahar got 4 wickets till now.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Sameer Rizvi, MS Dhoni (wk), Deepak Chahar, Matheesha Pathirana, Mustafizur Rahman, Tushar Deshpande.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

They are in the 5th position with 8 points in 7 matches in which they won 4 and lost 3. After two back to back losses they gained the momentum and won the match against CSK in their last encounter. This will definitely help to boost the confidence and to play again with the same opposition.

KL Rahul has been in best of his form and registered his best in this IPL in the last match. He scored fifty in the first match against RR and after that he made some 30’s but was unable to convert them into a big one. But in the last match he was looking more confident and scored 81 runs. Till now he has 286 runs and the highest among the players in this season.

Quinton de Kock after strings of low scores, finally got some healthy runs with the bat in the last match and scored 54 runs. He has 228 runs to his name in this season and hit the most (3) 50+ runs for the team in this IPL. Nicholas Pooran has always provided valuable runs towards the end. His strike rate is best among the team players which is 164 and has contributed 246 runs till now. His best was against RR where he scored unbeaten 64 runs.

Marcus Stoinis and Ayush Badoni performance till now has not been so satisfying except in one match for both the players respectively. Stoinis played a brilliant knock under pressure and hit 58 runs against GT while Badoni played brilliantly against DC and scored 55 runs.

Bowling seems to be little weak as they star pacer in this season Mayank Yadav missed the last 3 matches as he is in recovery process. According to their coach Justin Langer he might join the team in this match. On the other hand, Yash Thakur, except his performance against GT where he got 5 wickets, is not so worthy. He got 8 wickets till now with a poor economy of 10.18.

Mohsin Khan also struggles with his consistency and has grabbed 6 wickets in 4 matches. Krunal Pandya on the other hand has delivered more in his bowling than his batting as he has got 5 wickets till now with an economy of 7.42.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

KL Rahul (c/wk), Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Yash Thakur, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan.

Pitch Report:

The match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. At the start it gives huge assistance to the batters but when matches are being played it eventually becomes slow making bowlers to be more effective. Spinners find some turn and it might be difficult to bat 2nd. Also CSK is yet to get a defeat in their home ground this season. They won all their 3 matches here.

Weather Report:

The weather will be a sunny day. The highest will be approx 35 degree celsius while the lower will be approx 28 degree celsius and the humidity will be too high which is expected to be close to 70%, making it difficult for the batters to bat easily.

Best 11 for the Match:

Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, Shivan Dube, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Marcus Stoinis, Moeen Ali, Krunal Pandya, Mustafizur Rahman, Yash Thakur, Matheesha Pathirana.
