Match 12: GT vs SRH | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 12th match of the tournament between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The match between them will start at 3:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Gujarat Titans (GT):

The two time finalist in the last two seasons has been performing well in their starting two matches. They won one and lost one till now. In their first match they narrowly escaped from the loss and won the match against MI by 6 runs while in the next match CSK just got one sided domination and won it by 63 runs. Wicket-keeper Matthew Wade has joined the squad and the team might take his advantage in the match.

Shubman Gill has feeling pressure which also reflects in his batting. In the two matches he just scored 31 & 8 runs. He is a little slow starter most of the time but can hit big if he gets settled down. Also in Ahmedabad he likes to bat pretty well as he averages 66.90 in 12 matches and scored 669 runs with 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries.

On the other hand, Wriddhiman Saha has not been able to show a great performance despite getting a solid start. In both he scored 19 & 21 runs, but was unable to get that into a big one. Sai Sudharsan is currently the team’s leading scorer with 82 runs in 2 matches. The only thing which needs to be improved is his strike rate as he is batting at 117.14.

David Miller, the team finisher has been missing his destructive batting during the death overs. He didn’t get that much rhythm in his batting as he scored just 12 & 21 runs.

Since Mohammad Shami is missing from their bowling unit, they seemed to be struggling especially during the death overs. Experienced Rashid Khan though got 2 wickets but was expensive in his 4 overs as he conceded 49 runs, which is rarely seen. Mohit Sharma has been little consistent with his line and length as he has got 3 wickets till now.

Spencer Johnson, the new addition to the team has been the team’s new death bowler but he also conceded many runs and got 3 wickets till now. Azmatullah Omarzai the Afghan all-rounder has yet to perform well, though he got 2 wickets in the first match but was expensive in his spell and with the bat he didn’t shine yet.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Shubman Gill ©, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Sai Sudharsan, Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav, R Sai Kishore, Spencer Johnson.

(Impact Player: Mohit Sharma)

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

This team has set the bar for destruction. In both of their matches they provided just a thunder storm in their batting especially Heinrich Klassen. In their last match, they set huge records and scored the highest ever score in the IPL with 277 runs and beat MI by 31 runs

The batting unit has been brilliant in both the matches. Travis Head who played his first match for this franchise in the last match scored the fastest half-century (18 balls) for Sunrisers which later was broken by Abhiskek Sharma (16 balls) in the same match and registered his name for the team.

Mayank Agarwal also seems to get back his flow. But the beast, Heinrich Klaasen who scored 143 runs in 2 matches and in both the matches he scored half-centuries. He has a deadly strike rate of 226.98 till now. A huge monster especially in the death overs. Aiden Markram has also shown his batting performance as he got 42 runs in the last match.

The main problem is their bowling line-up as in both the matches the team conceded more than 200 runs. Their experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave 104 runs in his 8 overs and didn’t get any wickets. His economy is above 13 which is hard to see from this pacer. T Natarajan who bowled well and got 3 wickets in the first match but due to slight niggle he has to miss the next match. If he gets fit, then he certainly replaces Jaydev Unadkat.

Skipper Pat Cummins has been bowling little well as compared to other bowlers in the team, with an economy of 8 he got 3 wickets till now.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

Pat Cummins ©, Mayank Agarwal, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, T Natarajan/Jaydev Unadkat.

(Impact Player: Umran Malik)
