Match 11: LSG vs PBKS | Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 11th match of the tournament between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

Lucknow team has a history of making a strong bounce back at any time in the tournament. Though it is just the start and they are currently at the bottom of the table with only played 1 match. In that match they were defeated by RR by 20 runs

The skipper of the team KL Rahul started the tournament with some positive notes. He scored a brilliant 58 runs in the first match. It was also his first match after recovering from the injury. Though the pitch acts slow, he has comparatively better stats than other batters in the team. He got 185 runs in 5 matches with an average of 46.25 in Lucknow.

Quinton de Kock and Devudutt Padikkal got out early in the first match. Both the lefties have to show their experience in this format. Padikkal might get some relief as he had a pretty good record against the Punjab pacers. Against Rabada he scored 48 runs in 29 balls and against Sam Curran 32 runs in 20 balls, and both the bowlers were unable to get him out.

Nicholas Pooran is playing in style as he already showed in the first match where he scored a brilliant 64 runs and remained unbeaten. He is currently in lethal form as he performed better in the previous tournaments.

Looking at the nature of the pitch, it will support both pacers and spinners. Therefore Lucknow could take this advantage in their favour. Krunal Pandya bowled fantastically against RR where he only gave 19 runs in his 4 overs. Ravi Bishnoi, team’s main spinner can utilize the pitch in his favours as he was already seen using in the last season.

Pacers Naveen-ul-Haq and Mohsin Khan also bowled brilliantly here in this pitch and will again want to replicate the last season’s performance.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

KL Rahul ©, Quinton de Kock (wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Yash Thakur.

Punjab Kings (PBKS):

Punjab is currently in the 5th spot with one win and one loss in two matches. They started the tournament with a close victory against DC but against RCB in their last match they were defeated by them by 4 wickets. After playing two matches they got sufficient relaxation period and might bounce back harder.

Skipper Shikhar Dhawan is little consistent with the bat. He scored 22 and 45 runs in the two matches. He carries a huge experience in IPL and can contribute well at the start. On the other the other opener of the team, Jonny Bairstow is still struggling with his form and scored 9 and 8 runs respectively. He was also seen struggling during the 2023 ODI World Cup in India where he was unable to score many runs with the bat.

Sam Curran batted brilliantly against DC in the first match where he scored match winning 63 runs but unable to contribute much against RCB where he just managed 23 runs. He is also a wicket taking option for the team and can boost the team in both the departments.

Liam Livingstone, the hard hitter and the finisher of the team, showed the spark against Delhi where he scored unbeaten 38 runs and got his team to a victory. He is a lethal batter especially in the death overs and if get his connection well then can definitely add useful runs towards the end.

As the pitch is highly useful for the bowlers, therefore Punjab also can add this to their advantage. Arshdeep Singh had a pretty good spell against Delhi but looted many runs against Bengaluru. He had a better record against KL Rahul as he gave only 17 runs in 18 balls against him and also against Devdutt Padikkal where he dismissed him thrice.

Kagiso Rabada might also be brutal in this kind of pitch. He got 3 wickets till now and might trouble the opposition with his bouncers. Harshal Patel who just looted runs easily and till now he bowled 8 overs and gave 92 runs with an economy of 11.5, which he needs to make it better.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

Shikhar Dhawan ©, Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shashank Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Chahar, Harshal Patel.

Pitch Report:

The match will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The pitch has a huge assistance for the bowlers. Pacers and Spinners both get a good amount of bounce, swing and spin throughout the match. Looking at the last season batsmen find it difficult to play in this pitch. Therefore batting first might be a better option after winning the toss. The average score is 148 runs.

Weather Report:

The weather in Lucknow will remain sunny throughout the day. There will be a little bit of humidity, approx 40%. During the daytime the temperature might be around 37 degree celsius which will go down to 22 degree celsius at night.

Best 11 for the Match:

Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, Shikhar Dhawan, Marcus Stoinis, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada, Naveen-ul-Haq, Ravi Bishnoi, Harpreet Brar.
