Lungi Ngidi sudden exit from IPL 24, replacement named

South African pacer Lungi Ngidi will miss the upcoming 2024 IPL due to the injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk is named as his replacement.

Ngidi got his name registered for Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2022, who earlier played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). His last match in the league was also for CSK and is yet to make his debut for Delhi.

It will be a double blow for the franchise as earlier Harry Brook opted out to not take part in this season of IPL due to the demise of his grandmother. So he wanted to spend time with the family since he was too close with her.

The IPL stated that, “Delhi Capitals named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 league matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins Delhi for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac.

But somehow the franchise has good news that Rishabh Pant has cleared the fitness test and will be seen in the team’s jersey again which will definitely add a huge boost to the team ahead the season.

Capitals will play their first match in this season against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 23. According to the partial schedule released by the board, Delhi will play 5 matches.
