Yuvraj Singh favoured Rohit over Hardik as MI’s skipper

One of India’s greatest all-rounders, Yuvraj Singh, shows his support for Rohit Sharma as a captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) rather than Hardik Pandya.

Hardik was earlier traded to Mumbai from Gujarat Titans (GT) and later was selected as the leader of the team. Later huge chaos was generated between the fans and supporters and many of the veteran cricketers also supported that Rohit should continue as skipper for the team, since under his leadership he got 5 trophies.

Now in this a new name has been added in the support as Yuvraj during a recent interview with Star Sports revealed that Rohit is excellent with his leadership and also he is not retired yet, so he can contribute as a captain for one year at least.

“Rohit Sharma is a 5 time IPL winner as a captain. Removing him is a big decision. I would have gotten someone in, like they brought Hardik, but I still would have given Rohit one more season and let Hardik be the vice-captain and see how the whole franchise works.”

Player of the Series in 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh, also added that the franchise also wanted to secure their future due to which they had taken this huge decision and also praised Hardik about his performance and leadership skills in GT.

“I understand from the franchise’s point of view, they have to see the future of the franchise. But then again, Rohit is captaining India and still playing well, so it’s a big decision. In terms of talent, Yes, he (Hardik) has great talent. Being captain of Gujarat will be different from being captain of Mumbai. Expectations are a lot. Mumbai Indians have been a big side.”

Mumbai will play their first match against Gujarat on March 24 in Ahmedabad in the IPL according to the partial schedule as released by BCCI.
