International players suspended for taking drugs

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has suspended two players after they tested positive for a banned recreational drug. The two players were Wesley Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta. 

They will not be allowed to play any international matches till further hearing. After testing positive both of the players got terminated from the board as soon as the news arrived. Now the board will decide how far the punishment will sustain after the meeting between the officials. 

ZC said, “Both tested positive for a banned recreational drug in an out of competition case recorded during a recent in-house doping test.”

Both of the players last seen in the international circuit during the Ireland series which ended just a week ago. Madhevere made his debut in the international circuit against Bangladesh in the ODI series on 1st March 2020. He appeared in 98 (2 Tests, 36 ODIs and 60 T20s) international matches till now.

While Mavuta made his debut on 6th July 2018 against Australia in the T20 series. He made his appearances in the 26 (4 Tests, 12 ODIs and 10 T20s) international matches till now.
