England’s one of the best all-rounders Ben Stokes and their fierce pacer Jofra Archer are having injuries due to which both of them are not able to play any international matches.
Now English coach Matthew Mott said in a statement that both of them will be given ample time to recover fully before the T20 World Cup, so that both of them can be included into the squad.
Stokes played his last international match in the ODI World Cup where after completing the tournament he went for his knee surgery. Due to his knee injury he was not able to play a few matches for his team in the World Cup at the start. On the other hand, Archer had a shoulder injury long back which still took time to recover. He was last seen in the international circuit against Bangladesh in a T20 series on 14th March 2023.
The English coach said, “Ben, aside from his incredible match winning ability in every department, gives us that ability to have a seam bowler in your top six that gives you so many options with your team balance. It makes selection a hell of a lot easier.
In terms of Jofra, you have just got absolute box office pace, change of pace, bowl any over in the innings. Bowl your super over, bowl your last over when they need to. Him in the park is massive, everyone would agree with that.”
Stokes has already announced his retirement from the white ball cricket and wanted to concentrate on red ball cricket only. But due to his importance that he showcased in the past few years, he had to make his comeback for the ODI World Cup. This time he only bats. Whereas Archer carries a huge reputation of a great pacer as his bouncer with his sheer pace is hard to play. In the death overs, he is just too destructive and the team needs him in the shortest format.
