Former Pakistan Captain Lands 10-Year Jail Sentence

One of the best captains of Pakistan that they have, Imran Khan, has been sent to jail for 10 years. He has been accused of not returning diplomatic documents after he was removed from the Prime Ministership in 2022.

He was arrested for the first time in May 2023, then the full military force was implemented in the country due to the outrage of the supporters of the former Prime Minister. But later got released. Then he again went to jail in August 2023 on a different issue, but the issue was resolved but still he didn’t get released.

Imran Khan led party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), informed that they will go to High Court against this decision.

Imran has persistently claimed that the no-confidence vote orchestrated to oust him from power was orchestrated under the influence of the United States of America. According to him, a crucial document holds evidence of American diplomatic interference, compelling the efforts to remove him from office. This assertion gained substantial traction, especially following the publication of an article by the US news organization, The Intercept, which purportedly obtained access to the classified document.

The Intercept’s report revealed that the US State Department had allegedly issued threats of isolating PAK diplomatically unless Imran Khan was forcibly removed from office. The article further claimed that in the event of Imran’s removal, the United States would be willing to forgive and overlook any prior disagreements. This revelation added significant weight to Imran’s allegations, sparking a broader conversation about the intricate dynamics between international politics and the internal governance of Pakistan.

Imran is the only skipper of Pakistan who won the ODI World Cup for his country. He achieved this milestone in 1992.
