Australia will make their another appearance in the final of the World Cup after they defeated South Africa by 3 wickets. A close contest match which Aussies made to their name at the end.
South Africa posted 212/10 in 49.4 overs and in reply Aussies chased down the target in 47.2 overs and scored 215/7.
Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma after winning the toss opted to bat first.
Proteas start doesn’t go well as they lose 4 wickets in just 24 runs. Then a 95 runs partnership was generated between Heinrich Klassen (47 runs) and David Miller (101 runs). Miller hit his first century of the tournament and hit 8 fours and 5 sixes in his knock. He fought alone most of the time and didn’t get much support on the other end.
Gerald Coetzee (19 runs) also supported Miller in the end and the whole team got submitted at 212 runs in 49.4 overs.
Mitchell Starc for the first time in the tournament looked solid with his bowling as he took 3 wickets and gave only 34 runs in his 10 overs. Pat Cummins also supported him and took 3 wickets. Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head claimed 2 wickets each.
During the chase Travis Head (62 runs) showed his aggressive side and played 48 balls in which he hit 9 fours and 2 sixes. Steve Smith (30 runs) also showed his patience in the innings but got out before the final stage. Then suddenly wickets started falling from the other end and the score was 193 runs by the loss of 7 wickets.
Then for the winning partnership built between Pat Cummins (14 runs) and Mitchell Starc (16 runs) who contributed 22 runs and finally chased down the target in 47.2 overs and scored 215 runs by losing 7 wickets.
Tabraiz Shamsi and Gerald Coetzee got 2 wickets each. Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Aiden Markram got 1 wicket each.
