Yashasvi Jaiswal dominates day 1 against England

India made a promising start in the 2nd Test, especially thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock. India won the toss and opted to bat first. At the end of the day, India scored 336/6 in 93 overs. 

India got three changes in the 2nd Test. Rohit Patidar got their maiden chance, Kuldeep Yadav also included in the playing 11 and Mukesh Kumar also got his name in the 11. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj were out. England already announced their 11 a day before. 

Jaiswal remained unbeaten at the end of the day and made 179 runs till now. In this brave knock, he hit 17 fours and 5 sixes. He contributed more than 50% of the innings on day 1. He has played 257 balls till now and has a strike rate of 69.65. 

Yashasvi was the only one who looked good on this wicket. Shubman Gill (34 runs) looked a little good solid today but unfortunately couldn’t get more runs with the bat. Rajat Patidar (32 runs) played some beautiful shots with his score but was misfortune against Rehan Ahmed. 

Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel both managed 27 runs with the bat. KS Bharat once again failed to show some great runs with the bat and got 17 runs with his bat. Skipper Rohit Sharma again disappointed with the bat after scoring 14 runs. 

Ravichandran Ashwin (5 runs not out) is there in the crease along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. 

In the bowling department, debutant Shoaib Bashir grabbed 2 wickets, especially his first wicket came by dismissing Rohit Sharma. Rehan Ahmed also claimed 2 wickets. Joe Root again got the chance to bowl from the start and again he managed a wicket. James Anderson got his 691th wicket by dismissing Shubman Gill.
