South Africa’s dominating win in the 2nd T20 over India

After the first match was washed out, South Africa got a victory in the 2nd T20 match by 5 wickets. Now they lead the 3 match series by 1-0.

The first match between them got washed away due to rain without a ball being bowled and the same was seen in the 2nd match as rain interrupted the match little bit in between.

South Africa, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first. India mamages 180/7 in 19.3 overs and then rain came. Due to the wastage of time, the revised total for the Proteas was 152 runs in 15 overs which they chased down in 13.5 overs and scored 154/5.

Both Indian openers (Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal) got out at zero. Later skipper Suryakumar Yadav (56 runs) and Tilak Varma (29 runs) stabilized the innings little. They built 49 runs for the 3rd wicket, but just in the last over of the powerplay Tilak threw his wicket.

Rinku Singh (68 runs not out) continued his blistering innings as he provided a solid partnership with the skipper and made 70 runs for the 4th wicket. Rinku played just 39 balls and struck with 174.36 in which 9 fours and 2 sixes were included. Due to his destructive knock the team managed to post 180 runs in 19.3 overs by losing 7 wickets.

Gerald Coetzee claimed 3 wickets while the rest Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lizaad Williams and Andile Phehlukwayo got 1 wicket each.

Since due to rain the target was 152 runs in 15 overs, Proteas openers showed no mercy on the bowlers, especially Reeza Hendricks (49 runs). Openers put 42 runs just in the 3rd over and gave the team a solid start.

Later skipper Aiden Markram (30 runs) joined the party and played aggressively in his 17 balls knock. In the end, some small contributions by David Miller (17 runs), Tristan Stubbs (14 runs not out) and Andile Phehlukwayo (10 runs not out) chased down the target in 13.5 overs and made 154 runs by losing 5 wickets.

Mukesh Kumar got 2 wickets while Mohammad Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav got 1 wicket each.
