Rohit & Jadeja’s Tons, Fuel India’s Performance in 3rd Test

Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja centuries helped India to put a strong comeback after being in a poor situation. At the end of the day India scored 326/5.

Both the teams won one match each in the 5-match series. England won the 1st match by 28 runs whereas India won the 2nd match by 106 runs

In the morning Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first.

The morning didn’t suit the home team as they lost 3 wickets in just 33 runs. Most runs scored in this series Yashasvi Jaiswal (10 runs) was the first one who got out. Shubman Gill was unable to put any score and got out on a duck. Then Rajat Patidar (5 runs) was unable to show his potential again.

Then Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (131 runs) and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (110 runs not out) put together 204 runs for the 4th wicket and took their team to a strong position. Sharma hit 14 fours and 3 sixes and became the 2nd Indian surpassing MS Dhoni in terms of sixes after Virender Sehwag. He currently has 80 sixes to his account in Tests.

Jadeja took his time in the beginning and after setting down, started hitting all around the ground. He hit 9 fours and 2 sixes. Also he completed 3000 runs in his test career. He along with debutant Sarfaraz Khan (62 runs) built a partnership of 77 runs for the 5th wicket. Sarfaraz was playing aggressive at the start of his innings. He showed a lot of potential but unfortunately got run out.

English bowlers bowled brilliantly in the 1st session as they got 3 wickets, but lost the touch in the later two sessions. Mark Wood was the most successful one on the first day as he grabbed 3 wickets. Tom Hartley got 1 wicket.
