Mumbai Indians (MI) finally opened their victory account after defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 29 runs.
Mumbai scored 234/5 in 20 overs and in reply Delhi just able to get near to 205/8 in 20 overs.
After three back to back defeats, it was Mumbai’s first victory. Their last defeat was against RR where Rajasthan just made the match one sided and won it by 6 wickets. On the other hand, Delhi with this defeat registered their hattrick of defeat in this IPL. in the last match against Kolkata, Capitals were treated brutally and lost the match by 106 runs.

Openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan showed no mercy to the bowlers and they took the team 80 runs in 7 overs. Rohit missed his half-century just by one run as he got 49 runs in 27 balls which includes 6 fours and 3 sixes. Ishan scored 42 runs in 23 balls which includes 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Suryakumar Yadav in his first match of this season was unable to show the class and got out on a duck. Hardik Pandya scored 39 runs. But towards the end it was Tim David (45 runs not out) and especially Romario Shepherd (39 runs not out) who took the partnership for the 6th wicket for 53 runs in just only 13 balls.
Shepherd was too brutal with his batting as he played just 10 balls and hit 3 fours and 4 sixes whereas David played 21 balls and hit 2 fours and 4 sixes.
Anrich Nortje got 2 wickets but he conceded many runs as he gave 65 runs in just 4 overs. Axar Patel also got 2 wickets while Khaleel Ahmed got 1 wicket.
In the chase, Delhi’s opener Prithvi Shaw registered his first half-century of this IPL after scoring 66 runs in just 40 balls. He hit 8 fours and 3 sixes in his knock.
But it was Tristan Stubbs who turned the storm a little bit as he scored unbeaten 71 runs in just 25 balls. His strike rate was 284 in which he hit 3 fours and 7 sixes. But unfortunately he didn’t get any proper support from the other end and as a result the match didn’t go in their favour.
Gerald Coetzee got 4 wickets while Jasprit Bumrah grabbed 2 wickets. Romario Shepherd got 1 wicket.
