Match 7: CSK vs GT | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 7th match of the tournament between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT). The finalists of the previous season will be met at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Chennai Super Kings (CSK):

The defending champion started their journey this season with a 6 wickets win over RCB in the opening match of the IPL. Now with a new skipper the team has started well and they were excellent in all the departments in the first match. Now against their rival team in the last season, the finalist has to look how they will perform.

The opener Rachin Ravindra has impressed with his batting in his debut match of the IPL. He scored 37 runs in just 15 balls and showed his destruction. He is also brilliant in current international matches. New skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to capitalize well in the first match with the bat, but he has the capacity to score big.

Ajinkya Rahane carries his destructive form again and plays a small but blastful knock in the first match. Shivam Dube got his new role as a finisher for the team and played brilliantly in the death overs. In the first also he contributed with unbeaten 34 runs and took his team to the victory. MS Dhoni didn’t come for batting but he already showed in the last season it doesn’t matter if there are less balls left he can still take those balls out of the stadium easily.

Ravindra Jadeja continued his brilliant form in the three departments and put ticks there. Again in the first match despite being wicketless he was economical in his spell as he gave just 21 runs in his 4 overs and scored unbeaten 25 runs. Mustafizur Rahman played his first match for this franchise and was highly brilliant with the bowl as he got 4 wickets and was named as the Player of the Match. He is definitely a threat to the batters especially in the death overs.

Deepak Chahar is highly dangerous in the initial overs with the bowl and also can contribute with the bat as he is known for some of his power hitting. On the other hand, Sri Lankan pacer Mattheesha Pathirana has joined the squad but it doesn’t seem that he will get a chance to enroll into the playing 11. Maheesh Theekshana can be handy with the bowl as the spinners in Chennai are having huge success as compared to pacers.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Rachin Ravindra, Ruturaj Gaikwad ©, Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (wk), Sameer Rizvi, Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Mustafizur Rahman.

(Impact Player: Maheesh Theekshana for Shivam Dube).

Gujarat Titans (GT):

A nail-biting win for the last season finalist against MI in their first match by 6 runs. It was just looking like the match would be easily won by Mumbai but the new skipper Shubman Gill has shown his patience and rotating the bowlers well in the death overs which ultimately results the match in their favour.

Captain Shubman Gill has shown his consistency over the past few years which ultimately got the chance to lead the team. In the last season he was the orange cap holder and was 2nd highest scorer in the IPL till now in a single season. In the first also he got 31 runs with the bat and he can be more dangerous if he gets settled down the pitch.

On the other hand, GT’s main keeper Wriddhiman Saha has been seen struggling with the bat and was unable to score much. Most of the time, he started well and played a couple of good shots but couldn’t carry that momentum much longer. Sai Sudharsan has shown faith in the captain for the number 3 position. He has been scoring well in that position and in the last match was Player of the Match for his 45 runs knock.

Azmatullah Omarzai has been in good form in recent times and his addition to the team has been brilliant. He can score fast and also add pace to the team. David Miller has good finishing skills and can add healthy runs in the death overs.

Rashid Khan will definitely love the Chennai pitch as it becomes slower and slower as the match progresses. He can get ample amounts of turn and might be a beast in this pitch. Spencer Johnson in his first match of IPL, performed brilliantly in the death overs. Despite getting beaten in his initial overs, he was backed again and proved the skipper right.

Umesh Yadav was expensive in his first spell but in the last over against Mumbai he proved his worth by restricting Mumbai to the targeted score.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

Shubman Gill ©, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Sai Sudharsan, David Miller, Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, R Sai Kishore, Spencer Johnson, Umesh Yadav.

(Impact Player: Mohit Sharma in for Sai Sudharsan).
