The 51st match of the tournament between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

Teams Analysis:

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):

They are currently standing at 2nd position in the points table with 12 points in 9 matches. The points might be much better as out of their 3 losses 2 were finished in a close contest. They are having a strong batting line-up, especially the opening pair. Their bowling seems to be a little weak but they performed brilliantly in the last match and resulted in winning the match against DC

The dynamic duo in the opening of Knight Riders provided them a solid start. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, the destructive pair give their team a path to score big from the start. Salt has scored most runs for the team with 392 runs in his credit with a strike rate of 180.64. He scored 4 half-centuries till now and the best was against LSG where he scored unbeaten 89 runs.

On the other hand, Sunil Narine who has been in terrific form with both bat and bowl, resulted in huge contributions for the team. In his batting he scored 372 runs which includes one century and 2 half-centuries while in his bowling he got 11 wickets with an economy of 6.86. He is a great package to the team whose contributions make the team more powerful.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer has been also looking decent till now with 251 runs with the strike rate of 137.16. Andre Russell also gave his impact performance to the team in both the departments. Though he batted in just 6 innings, where he scored 179 runs in which he played a destructive knock against SRH where he got 64 runs in 25 balls. While bowling, he got 9 wickets to his name.

Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh have performed decently till now, Iyer got 154 runs while Rinku scored 123 runs. Both of them batted in 8 innings.

Varun Chakaravarthy was phenomenal in the last match with his 3 wickets in 4 overs by giving away only 16 runs. Due to his impactful performance he was awarded with the Player of the Match. This spell will definitely boost him in the further matches. He has taken 11 wickets till now with an economy of 9.03. Mitchell Starc has taken 7 wickets till now but the economy is very poor which is 11.79 and he needs to improve this to create problems for the batters out there.

Harshit Rana was brilliant with the wicket-taking but he will not play this match due to a ban for one match, as due to his behaviour he got a warning for the 2nd time and faced the ban. He has taken 11 wickets till now. Vaibhav Arora on the other hand has taken 9 wickets in 5 matches with an economy of 9.06.

Mumbai Indians (MI):

Despite having star performers in the team, they are currently in the 9th position with 6 points in 10 matches. They won 3 matches and lost 7. They again got hattrick losses in this IPL and their last defeat was a close one, when Lucknow passed them in the last over in a comparatively low scoring match.

Rohit was looking good at the start of the season and was striking well but in the last four matches he only scored 36, 6, 8 and 4 with a strike rate of 125.58. He is a hard hitter of the ball but in the last few matches he missed that. He has managed 315 runs till now. Ishan Kisan also was not looking good with the bat as he only got 244 runs with one half century to his name.

Tilak Varma is the only batter who provided some valuable runs in most of the matches. He is the team’s current highest scorer with 343 runs to his name in which he got three 50+ knocks. Has a strike rate of 153.81. Suryakumar Yadav though scored two half-centuries but still he is finding his way to score big. In the 7 matches, he scored 176 runs with a healthy strike rate of 170.87.

Skipper Hardik Pandya has mostly disappointed in most of the matches. In both the departments he was unable to get much. In his batting he got 197 runs while in his bowling he got 6 wickets.  But in the last match he bowled well as he got 2 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away 24 runs. Tim David as a finisher role justifying the roleplay as he added 217 runs with a strike rate of 168.22.

Looking at their bowling, except Jasprit Bumrah none of the other bowlers showed economical spells to the team. Bumrah has taken most wickets with 14 to his name with a brilliant economy of 6.4. He carries the purple cap along with Mustafizur Rahman and Harshal Patel. Gerald Coetzee though helped him in the wicket contribution as he has taken 13 wickets till now but with an economy of 10.06.
