Sri Lanka must be in a position to forget their last match where they got bashed heavily by team India. They make their place by qualifying from the World Cup qualifiers. But their tournament didn’t go as well as they had expected. Some of the positives they gained in this tournament as some players performed brilliantly in batting and bowling. They are already out of the Semis but wanted to keep the win so that they can qualify for the Champions Trophy.

Pathum Nissanka is showing his great class in batting by registering 4 fifties in the tournament till now. He has scored 289 runs with an average of 48.17. His 4 half centuries came in back to back 4 matches and created a record for his team. His highest score was 71 runs which came against England. Dimuth Karunaratne played the last two matches where he scored 15 & 0. He needs to be more consistent with the bat. Kusal Perera didn’t perform well in this tournament and has few upsets. His highest score was against Australia where he discord 78 runs. 

Kusal Mendis the leader of the team who took the charge in place of injured Dasun Shanaka. He started the tournament well and scored a half century and a century in his first two matches but suddenly after that he threw the rhythm and was unable to score much and got out early. Sadeera Samarawickrama currently has the most runs scored from his team. He has 331 runs in his credit which includes 1 century and 2 half centuries. He is batting with an average of 66.2 with a healthy strike rate of 103.12. 

Charith Asalanka started the tournament with a brilliant 79 runs against Sri Lanka, then later on with the progress of the World Cup he lost his touch with the bat. In some matches he got 40’s and 20’s but couldn’t take those innings much longer and got out after that. Dhanajaya de Silva has been consistently performing poorly in both the departments. With the bat his highest score is 30 runs which came against Netherlands and with the bowl he didn’t get any wickets. 

Angelo Mathews was included in the team after some injuries in the team. He played his first match against England where he got 2 wickets but with the bat he didn’t get any brilliant knock yet. He carries a huge experience but yet to perform it well. Dushan Hemantha played 2 matches and in both the matches he couldn’t perform well. With the bowl he was expensive in both the matches and couldn’t score much.    

Dushmantha Chameera in his 2 matches just got 1 wicket and in his 2nd match was highly expensive in his spell. Maheesh Theekshana has just 3 wickets in the tournament till now. He doesn’t get to perform as expected by him. Kasun Rajitha  has taken 8 wickets till now. After getting heavily bashed from South Africa in the first match he was dropped from the playing 11. But when he came back against Netherlands he got 4 wickets. 

Dilshan Madushanka, the young lad from the team has 18 wickets till now. He is bowling very well in the World Cup. In his last match against India he got 5 wickets. The only thing which needs to be considered is his economy which is 6.42.

Bengal Tigers started the tournament with a great win over Afghanistan but after that they lost that winning spirit. Some mistakes which need to be rectified in both the departments. Also in the field they were looking sloppy. They also need to be in the top 8 as they will also have to qualify for the Champions Trophy.

Liton Das, one of the most consistent hitters from the side has 225 runs in 7 matches with 2 half centuries. His highest score was 76 runs which was against England. His average is 32.14 in the World Cup which he definitely wants to improve in the remaining matches. Tanzid Hasan has just one fifty to his name which came against India where he scored 51 runs. In the remaining matches he couldn’t even cross the 20 runs mark. 

Najmul Hossain Shanto started the tournament with a brilliant 59 runs against Afghanistan and played a match winning knock. But after that he was unable to cross the 10 runs mark and got out early in the remaining matches. Shakib Al Hasan, one of the greatest all-rounders in the World has not hit a single 50 in this tournament. His highest score is 43 runs which was against Pakistan. With the bowl he did something better and got 8 wickets till now and has some great economical spells.    

Mushfiqur Rahim carries a huge experience in the international circuit. It was his 5th World Cup and in this tournament he scored 171 runs till now. He has 2 fifties to his name and highest score was 66 runs which came against New Zealand. Mahmudullah is the only batsman from the side who is showing little consistency with the bat. He has scored 274 runs which includes 1 century and 1 half century. His average is 68.5 which is quite commendable. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz  is performing quite well as compared to the other players in the team. With the bat he scored 169 runs which includes 57 runs against Afghanistan. And with the bowl he has 9 wickets which is the most from his team. He got 3 wickets in the match two times. Towhid Hridoy is known for his powerful hitting but in this tournament it misses. He is hardly scoring any runs and his highest score is 39 runs which came against England. 

Taskin Ahmed is the most experienced pace bowler from the side and has 4 wickets till now in the tournament. He is looking little off angle in this tournament and was expensive in his spells. Mustafizur Rahman also got 4 wickets till now and he is also quite expensive in most of his spells. His slow bouncer for which he is known for is not getting any impact to the opposition. 

Shoriful Islam has got 8 wickets to his team but his economy is quite high which needs to be maintained so that he can be a bit more dangerous.
