Match 37: PBKS vs GT | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 37th match of the tournament between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

In their previous encounter in this IPL, out of 2 wins of Punjab, one came against Gujarat where they clinched the victory from their mouth in the last over.

Teams Analysis:

Gujarat Titans (GT):

The change in captaincy changed the fate of the team also, as the last two season’s finalists are currently at the 7th spot with 6 points in 7 matches with 3 wins and 4 losses. One of the main headaches is their opening combination which is unable to make any partnership till now.

Captain Shubman Gill has been again showing his consistency with the bat as he scored the most runs for his team till now in this season. He discord 263 runs which includes 2 half-centuries. He is the only player in the team who got past the 50 runs mark. This also makes it a little disappointing as none of the other batters tried to stick to the pitch for a long time.

Wriddhiman Saha has been constantly failing to provide valuable runs to the team at the start. In some of the matches he got a destructive start but was unable to carry that momentum to much longer. In 5 matches he only scored 78 runs. After Gill, only Sai Susdharsan is the only batter who contributes some runs constantly. He scored 238 runs till and the highest is 45 runs. He also got some couple of 40’s and many 30’s but could not convert them into a huge knock.

David Miller the power hitter of the team after missing 3 matches back to the playing but got departed at 2 in the last match. Except the match against SRH where he scored unbeaten 44 runs, he failed to contribute with the bat.

Rashid Khan is slowly getting back to his rhythm with the bowl as he got 7 wickets till now. In the last two matches he was also economical, which he missed in the previous matches. Not only with the bowl, he contributes with the bat also as in the last two he scored 24 runs in 11 balls and 31 runs in 24 balls. Mohit Sharma is the team’s highest wicket-taker with 8 wickets till now. But his economy is tending towards the higher side which is 9.39.

Spencer Johnson, the costliest buy for GT has now 4 wickets till now with an economy of 9.44.

Shubman Gill ©, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Abhinav Manohar, B Sai Sudharsan, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Shahrukh Khan, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, Spencer Johnson, Sandeep Warrier.

Punjab Kings (PBKS):

Out of 7 matches, this team’s win and loss came in the last over. Before that the match was not decided which way the match was going. But unfortunately they only managed 2 in their favour while they lost 5 matches till now. They are in the 9th spot with 4 points. Except for a few players the rest are unable to perform which ultimately cost them the matches.

In their batting, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma are the only two batters who constantly fight till the end. These two changes the atmosphere towards their favour. Due to their immense try hard, the team managed to fight till the end.

Shashank is topping the table in terms of runs from his team with 187 runs and having an excellent average of 62.33. His strike rate is 179.81 and the best came against GT where he scored unbeaten 61 runs and took his team to the victory. Whereas Ashutosh only played 4 matches and scored 156 runs with a destructive strike rate of 205.26. In the last match against MI, he took his team to close and scored 61 runs in just 28 balls where he hit 2 fours and 7 sixes.

Due to shoulder injury Shikhar Dhawan is unable to play and is currently undergoing rehabilitation and as a result he will miss the match against Gujarat. In his absence Sam Curran is taking the leadership charge. But he has not shown any influential roleplay in both the departments. After a fantastic half-century against DC in the first match his bat remained silent in the remaining matches. With the bowl he had little significance as he got 10 wickets under his pocket.

The hard hitter Liam Livingstone hasn’t been able to perform well yet. He only scored 105 runs in 5 matches and the best is 38 runs. Rilee Rossouw who played his first match for this franchise got out on a duck.

In their bowling department, Kagiso Rabada has got 10 wickets with an economy of 8.32. Harshal Patel also got his rhythm back as he also took 10 wickets. His economy is currently at 10.12 which was earlier close to 11. Arshdeep Singh also showed support as he got 9 wickets till now.

The Pacers are doing well for the team, only the spinners have been showing disappointment. Harpreet Brar got 4 wickets while Rahul Chahar got 2 wickets till now. Though Brar has the best economy among the players in the team which is 7.17 while Rahul was expensive as he has 11.38 economy which is the worst in the team.
