LSG left in ruins as RR’s unstoppable chase down

Rajasthan Royals (RR) is marching toward an easy qualification for the playoffs. This time they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 7 wickets. 

Super Giants scored 196/5 in 20 overs and in reply Royals chased down the target in 19 overs and discord 199/3. 

When these two teams met earlier in this season it was both teams first match in IPL 2024 and Rajasthan domination got past Lucknow easily in the defending cause.

After winning the toss Sanju Samson opted for bowling. 

KL Rahul once again showed his super class after scoring brilliant 76 runs. In his 48 balls knock he hit 8 fours and 2 sixes. With this knock he moved to 2nd spot in the orange cap list after Virat Kohli with 378 runs. 

He built a brilliant partnership with Deepak Hooda as Hooda contributed 50 runs in 31 balls. Both of them added 115 runs for the 3rd wicket. It was also Hooda’s first 50+ knock in this season. Towards the end Ayush Badoni (18 runs not out) and Krunal Pandya (15 runs not out) took the score close to 200. 

Sandeep Sharma got 2 wickets. Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin and Avesh Khan got 1 wicket each. 

In the chase, Royals lost 3 wickets in the span of 18 runs as the first wicket fell on 60. They were looking on the back foot but then skipper Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel took the match into their hands and played till the finishing line. 

Samson scored unbeaten 71 runs and Jurel registered his maiden IPL half-century after scoring unbeaten 52 runs. Samson played 33 balls and hit 7 fours and 4 sixes while Jurel played 35 balls and hit 5 fours and 2 sixes. Both of them added 121 runs for the 4th wicket, which is the highest 4th wicket stand for Rajasthan. 

Amit Mishra, Yash Thakur and Marcus Stoinis got 1 wicket each.
