Dhumal confirmed the news to the PTI that the whole tournament will be played in India. Since they are waiting for the release of dates of the elections and after knowing the dates further schedule will be released depending upon the situations.

“We are looking at a March 22 start for the tournament. We are working closely with the government agencies and we will first release the initial schedule. The entire tournament will be held in India.”

Earlier during the 2009 IPL, the entire season was played outside India which was in South Africa as due to the election dates clashing with the league matches. As a result, the security was heavily concerned and the full league matches were shifted to South Africa. Also in 2020 and 2021, matches were partially held in India and partially held in UAE due to the outburst of Covid-19 within the country.

It is also expected that the final of the IPL will be held on 26th May, just a few days before the T20 World Cup, which is going to start from 5th June.

The full list of franchise players has been out. All the teams have fixed their squad for the 2024 season in which Mitchell Starc was sold to the Kolkata Knight Riders with a whooping prize of 24.75 crores. It is the most till now for any player in the Indian Premier League.

The first match is going to be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT), as they were finalists in the 2023 season.
