ICC’s Shock Announcement – Sri Lanka’s Redemption

ICC removed their temporary ban from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on 28th January. The uplifting process must be done with immediate effect as announced by the committee.

They were banned on 10th November for breaching ICC rules and regulations. As it was said that the government was involved in the sports activities due to which the whole board got suspended temporarily.

Due to the ban, the venue for the U-19 ICC Men’s World Cup was shifted from Sri Lanka to South Africa.

The new sports minister Harin Fernando had a meeting with ICC CEO Geoff Allardice along with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickramasinghe in this month regarding the uplifting for their ban.

During the ban period, ICC said that SLC can organise bilateral series or can play domestic cricket but they will not get any payment from the International Council, neither they will be part of any ICC tournaments.
