Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) named the replacement for David Willey. New Zealand pacer Matt Henry will be added to the squad in place of Willey.
Willey earlier said that he would not be able to join the squad in the initial few matches of the tournament due to some personal reasons but now he had announced that he couldn’t participate throughout the 2024 IPL. He was bought by the franchise at his base price of INR 2.00 crores (approx US $239,856).
Henry was bought by the franchise at INR 1.25 crores. He played 17 T20s in which he got 20 wickets. Before Lucknow he played for CSK where he got 1 wicket in 2 matches. Also he bowled well in the 2023 ODI World Cup and was 3rd highest wicket-taker for the team but unfortunately he couldn’t end up the tournament as he got injured and had to leave out from the team.
On the other hand, LSG lost their first encounter where they were defeated by RR by 20 runs. Their 2nd match will be on their home ground Ekana stadium, Lucknow, where they will meet PBKS on Saturday evening.
