Now leading the series by 2-1, India registered their biggest win in terms of runs by defeating England by 434 runs. The match ended on the 4th day.
The home team declared their 2nd innings at 430/4 in 98 overs and set the target of 556 runs. But the English team managed only 122 runs in 39.4 overs.
Indian team started their day 3 total of 192/2 where Gill and Kuldeep were unbeaten at the end. Shubman Gill (91 runs) was unfortunate to complete his century as he got run out. Then the centurion, Yashasvi Jaiswal (214 runs not out) provided another double century in the series with a fashion. He played 236 balls in which he hit 14 fours and 12 sixes.
Also the debutant Sarfaraz Khan (68 runs not out) again hit back to back half centuries. He hit 6 fours and 3 sixes in his knock.
Only the English spinners- Joe Root, Tom Hartley and Rehan Ahmed got 1 wicket each.
England were not looking good at the start as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Mark Wood (33 runs) was the highest run getter for the team and he came to bat at number 10 position. Skipper Ben Stokes (15 runs) got out early while experienced Joe Root (7 runs) again disappointed with the bat.
Ravindra Jadeja showed the magic with his spin and took 5 wickets whereas Kuldeep Yadav got 2 wickets. R Ashwin who departed to his home due to the family medical reason has returned back and got 1 wicket while Bumrah also got 1.
