As Gautam Gambhir is expected to be the next head coach for the Indian cricket team, his announcement is getting delayed. The post for the head coach is empty after the T20 World Cup.
Gambhir is in contention along with WV Raman who already coached the Indian Women Team. But Gautam is most likely to take the place of Rahul Dravid. According to some reports of The Indian Express, the real reason for the delayment is the salary negotiation between him and the board.
As soon as the salary will be finalised, the announcement should be made rapidly. Earlier Dravid’s yearly remuneration was around close to 12 crore and it is being said that Gautam might be paid higher than this.
Along with the place of head coach, the other positions of batting coach, fielding coach and bowling coach are empty as Vikram Rathore, T Dilip and Paras Mhambrey respectively tenures have ended. BCCI gave Gambhir full free hand to fill these places according to his choice.
VVS Laxman has been given charge of head coach for the Men In Blue for the Zimbabwe tour for 5 match series. After that the main head coach will join the team during the Sri Lanka series, which will start from July 27 as revealed by Jay Shah (BCCI Secretary).
