Stoinis’ century reigns supreme as Gaikwad’s ton fades

Marcus Stoinis brilliant century knock helped Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to register back to back victory against the same opponent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets. 

Super Kings scored 210/4 in 20 overs and in reply Super Giants scored in overs. 

These two team’s last encounter was also against each other where Lucknow showed huge impact over Chennai.

After winning the toss, KL Rahul opted for bowling. 

The skipper of yellow team Ruturaj Gaikwad guided his team with a brilliant century. He scored unbeaten 108 runs in 60 runs with a strike rate of 180. In his knock he hit 12 fours and 3 sixes. He looked aggressive from the starting of his innings. 

A good support was given to him by Shivam Dube who batted with destruction in his 66 runs for which he took 27 balls and hit 3 fours and 7 sixes. Both of them added 104 runs for the 4th wicket. Then in the end, Dhoni came to bat for one ball and he hit the boundary in that delivery. 

Matt Henry, Yash Thakur and Mohsin Khan got 1 wicket each. 

During the chase, Lucknow lost both their openers when there was 33 runs on the board before the powerplay ends. Then there arrived the show stopper of the match Marcus Stoinis who scored his maiden IPL century. He took 63 runs and scored unbeaten 124 runs in which 13 fours and 6 long sixes were included.

He was firstly well supported by Nicholas Pooran with whom he added 70 runs for the 4th wicket. Then with Deepak Hooda he added the match winning 55 runs. Pooran scored 34 runs in 15 balls while Hooda scored unbeaten 17 runs in 6 balls. 

Matheesha Pathirana got 2 wickets while Deepak Chahar and Mustafizur Rahman got 1 wicket each.
