Teams Analysis

Sri Lanka (SL):

The 2014 champion is yet to open their winning account in this tournament. They lost 2 out of 3 matches while the last one against Nepal got washed away due to rain. They are already out from the Super 8 round and need to end this season with a win.

A poor performance from their batting unit has been seen this season. Their in form batters got out early. Pathum Nissanka is their highest scorer this season with 50 runs to his name and has a strike rate of 138.89. He is the only batter in the team who begets strike rate above 100. His opening partner Kusal Mendis had a poor season going with the bat as he managed only 29 runs with the bat with a strike rate of 76.32.

Experienced all-rounder Angelo Mathews who returned to the team in the format, hasn’t been able to perform well as he only managed 32 runs in 2 matches with a strike rate of 91.43. He didn’t get any wickets in his spell. Former skipper Dasun Shanka has a disastrous season going as he managed 12 runs with the bat and has taken just one wicket till now.

Skipper Wanindu Hasaranga though got 4 wickets till now but the economy is being little on the higher side, which is 7.36. He is known for his hard hitting skills in the lower down the order but he failed to do so as he got departed on ducks both times.

Nuwan Thushara is currently their leading wicket-taker with 5 wickets to his name with the economy being 5.14. None of the other bowlers show courage in this bowling department as has been consistently providing many runs.

Probable Playing 11 of Sri Lanka (SL):

Wanindu Hasaranga ©, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Kamindu Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara.

Netherlands (NED):

Their chances for the Super 8 qualification is hanging by a thread. If Bangladesh won the match against Nepal, then their chances will be ended. And if the reverse happens, then they have to win this match by a huge margin. Their performance has been decent till now and they need to make full efforts in both the departments, so that the result might come in their favour.

Looking at their batting point of view, Sybrand Engelbrecht is their highest run-getter with 87 runs to his name. His strike rate is 104.82. His best came against South Africa where he scored 40 runs in 45 balls. Team’s opener Max O’Dowd has scored one half-century and that came against Nepal, the very first match that they played, but after that knock he missed the spark and was unable to score much in the other two matches. He has in total 68 runs to his credit.

Skipper Scott Edwards hasn’t looked much great with the bat as he managed just 40 runs in 3 matches with a strike rate of 100. His best was against Bangladesh where he scored 25 runs. Now it will be a high time for him to get some healthy runs on the board.

Logan van Beek is the highest wicket-taker for the team in this season with 5 wickets to his credit. His economy is a little higher, which is 7.24. Paul van Meekeren and Tim Pringle both grabbed 4 wickets each. Meekeren has an economy of 3.92 whereas Pringle has an economy of 6.67.

Probable Playing 11 of Netherlands (NED):

Scott Edwards (c & wk), Max O’Dowd, Michael Levitt, Vikramjit Singh, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Bas de Leede, Logan van Beek, Tim Pringle, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, Vivian Kingma.

Pitch Report for the match between Sri Lanka (SL) and Netherlands (NED):

The match will be played at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia. It has been a great battung surface and easy runs can be scored as the ball comes directly to the bat. Pacers might get some help from the pitch at the start. Chasing might be a better option here after winning the toss.

There is a huge chance of rain as the rain expectancy is close to 50%. Humidity will be close to 75%. The highest temperature may be around 31 degree celsius while the lowest may be close to 26 degree celsius.
