Pakistan got a thrilling victory in a close encounter against Ireland. They won the match by 3 wickets. With this their journey to this tournament comes to an end.
Pakistan registered their first win in this season after defeating Canada while on the other hand Ireland was choked by Canada in a close encounter.
Babar Azam, after winning the toss opted to bowl first.
Ireland managed only 106/9 in 20 overs and in reply Pakistan scored 111/7 in overs.
Once again the top order failed miserably as the Irish team posted 32 runs by the loss of 6 wickets. Then some stability was provided by Gareth Delany and Mark Adair. Both of them added 44 runs for the 7th wicket.
Delany scored 31 runs in 19 balls while Adair scored 15 runs. Towards the end, Josh Little added valuable unbeaten 22 runs due to which the team got 100 runs par score.
Pak’s bowling unit was fantastic as they kept taking wickets from the start. Imad Wasim and Shaheen Afridi both got 3 wickets each whereas Mohammad Amir got 2 wickets. Haris Rauf settled with 1 wicket.
In the chase, the Pak players struggled a bit in the middle as the wickets kept falling. A slight little hope for the Irish team but Babar stuck there till the end for the team and got his team a close victory. He scored unbeaten 32 runs off 34 balls. Shaheen Afridi (13 runs not out) with a six touched the victory line.
Barry McCarthy got 3 wickets while Curtis Campher got 2 wickets. Mark Adair and Benjamin White got 1 wicket each.
