South Africa’s destructive batsman in the shortest format, Rilee Rossouw hoping that he will get a bidding war in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He played for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the last season where he scored 209 runs in 9 matches with an strike rate of close to 148. He hit one half century in 9 outings and his highest score was 82 runs not out. Except that he was not able to contribute much for his team. His name was there along with the other 10 players whom DC released before the auction.
He also got a chance to represent one more IPL franchise which was Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2014-15 which was his first team in the world best T20 league. As he is playing for Los Angeles Knight Riders in the Major Cricket League (MCL) and Trinbago Knight Riders in Caribbean Premier League (CPL), therefore he is predicting that a bidding war might happen between DC and KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders).
Rilee Rossouw says,
“Don’t have a particular thing in mind. I think the Delhi Capitals were really good to me last year. We had a solid camaraderie around the team. But in saying that, I did well with the Knights team in the American League. So it would be nice if it would be a little bit of a bidding war. I mean, that would be ideal for myself.
Like at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who I play for. I want to do well for whichever franchise I’m picked. I think IPL does everything bigger and better there as they say. It’s just glamorous from the outside. They spend so much money on marketing, in getting the other fans in which it is fantastic to see as a player. The fans love their cricket. So it’s fantastic to see that and how it’s been consistent over what it’s been like 20 years of it. So it is probably one of the best leagues.”
Rossouw is currently playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 league for Delhi Bulls where he was seen struggling with his bat to score.
