Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) released the star Indian all-rounder who played in the World Cup, Shardul Thakur, who was acquired by the franchise for a whopping amount of 10.75 crore from Delhi Capitals (DC) last year.
He had a drastic season last year in both departments. He made his presence in 11 matches in which he scored 113 runs and with the bowl he grabbed just 7 wickets only. Before Capitals, he played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where he played from 2018-2021, then he shifted to Capitals and played just one season and then he came to KKR.
Despite being considered to be a hard hitter in the death overs, his bowling spells were mostly expensive. Also some sources revealed that Hardik Pandya will play for Mumbai Indians (MI) from the upcoming season and will be traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) to MI.
DC released two star batters, Shaw retained
On the other hand, the first Indian centurion in the IPL, Manish Pandey was released by DC from the IPL. He played in different franchises and is considered to be one of the best batsmen in this league format. Also the other destructive batsman from the same side, Sarfaraz Khan was released from the squad. He made his name sound when he showed his aggressiveness for playing with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Their opener, Prithvi Shaw was to be retained by the franchise who is recovering from the injury. He had a drastic season in the last IPL where he only managed 106 runs in 8 matches. Despite being unable to score runs, head coach Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly have a lot of faith in him and will be seen in the next season.
Root will not feature in IPL24
One of the greatest England batsman Joe Root who played the last season for Rajasthan Royals (RR) has decided to opt out from the 2024 IPL, so that he can focus more on longer formats of the cricket. Also the director of cricket of the team, Kumar Sangakkara, has confirmed the exit news of Joe Root.
