Shahrukh Khan launched the World Cup 2023 campaign.

On 20th July, Shahrukh Khan along with some great cricketers featured in a 2.12 min video where the World Cup campaign started. Campaign was given the name ‘It Takes One Day’.   

It was launched in Mumbai, India. Campaign was a joint initiative taken by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Several former and present cricketers were also seen in that video. JP Duminy, Shubman Gill, Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Muttiah Muralidharan, Jonty Rhodes and Indian female cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues. In that video the whole voice over was given by the Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan and also seen at the end of the video.

In that campaign video, it shows all the fans all over the world celebrating cricket just like a festival and their emotion regarding cricket can be easily shown. Some old World Cup clips were also added. The video connects the nine ‘Navarasa’ emotions –  anguish, bravery, joy, passion, power, pride, respect and wonder.

ICC CEO Geoff Allardice says on the launch of the campaign,

“This campaign is a true celebration of One Day International Cricket and builds a sense of anticipation of what we can expect when the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 returns to India. The emotions or Navarasa are felt by fans and players alike during One Day and this campaign brings to life that shared experience.”

The involvement of Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan together with an exceptional line-up of cricketers will only help us deepen our connection in this country, while captivating the attention worldwide.”  

BCCI secretary Jay Shah says in this launching,

As we embark on this journey, we are proud to see the launch of the Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign and create real excitement for the event across the world.”
