Teams Analysis

Uganda (UGA):

A pathetic performance was shown by Uganda players in both the departments in the first match. They choked to deliver and as a result they lost by a huge margin of 125 runs. Despite their poor performance some of the players showed excellency in the field.

Skipper Brian Masaba though failed to get a single run and got out on the golden duck but showed his power in the bowling department after grabbing 2 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away only 21 runs. Batters failed miserably in the match.

Both the openers, Ronak Patel and keeper Simon Ssesazi scored 4 runs each in the first match. Ronak has a strike rate of 105 in T20s while Simon batted with 124 strike rate. Therefore Simon needs to show his power once again.

The middle order batters, Riazat Ali Shah and Roger Mukasa both were unable to show their class. Roger got out on a golden duck while Riazat played 34 balls and scored just 11 runs. These two have strike rate 120+ and need to counter with the batting so that team gets some decent score at the end. Alpesh Ramjani team’s experienced all-rounder got out on a duck while in his bowling he got one wicket.

Bilal Hassan team’s experienced bowler failed to showcase his skill in the first as he was expensive in his spell after giving 34 runs in 2 overs without taking any wickets. Cosmas Kyewuta bowled some lovely overs in the death and got 2 useful wickets. Due to his brilliant spell in the end, Afghanistan didn’t cross the 200 mark as it was looking easy for them to get there.

Papua New Guinea (PNG):

A much impressive performance by them in the very first match which came against the home team. If they could manage 10-15 more runs, then they might create history also by winning that match. This performance by the players definitely gives them confidence to play with full power in the remaining matches.

Looking at their batting point of view, Sese Bau scored a fighting 50 runs in 43 balls and took his team to a respectable total. Due to his patience level, the scoreboard kept moving on. Skipper

Assad Vala in the opening, scored 21 runs but that took 22 balls to reach there. Despite this he got some brilliant overs with the bowl as he got 2 important wickets of Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford. Also he bowled a maiden over in his spell. He is one of the best all-rounders the team has and that he showed in the first match.

Opener Toni Ura who is known for his destructive start from the beginning as his strike rate is 156.35 failed to show this form in the first match and only managed 2 runs. The middle order batters Lega Siaka and Hiri Hiri departed early on. All-rounder Charles Amini also failed in both the departments.

Wicket-keeper Kiplin Doriga with his destructive batting took the team score close to 140. He scored unbeaten 27 runs in 18 balls.

Bowlers did a commendable job by restricting the Caribbean players to play freely. The Windies had a huge line up of power hitters but PNG bowlers failed them to show the destruction. Alei Nao, Chad Soper and John Kariko got 1 wicket each. Kariko and Nao being highly economical as Nao gave only 9 runs in his 2 overs while Kariko only gave 17 runs in his 4 overs.

Pitch Report for the match between Uganda (UGA) and Papua New Guinea (PNG):

The match will be played at Providence Stadium, Guyana. Two matches have been played here and one won by the chasing while the other won by the deafening team. Therefore the pitch is still a little unpredictable but batting first might be a better option here, since the pitch gets slower with time and the ball gets a lot of turn, making it hard for the batters to play.

Weather Report:

Match is again under the radar of rain as there is a 60% chance of rain. Thunderstorms will be there. Humidity will also be pretty high as it is expected to be 80%. The highest temperature may go up  by 30o while the lowest may be recorded as 26o.
