Netherlands registered a close win against Nepal in a low scoring match. They won the match by 6 wickets.
Nepal scored 106/10 in 19.2 overs and Netherlands chased down the target in 18.4 overs and scored 109/4.
Netherlands, after winning the toss, opted to bowl.
Nepal lost wickets at regular intervals, due to which they were unable to post big on the board. Skipper Rohit Paudel scored most runs for the team after scoring 35 runs in 37 balls.
Then towards the end, the lower order batters Gulsan Jha (14 runs) and Karan KC (17 runs) provided valuable runs to the team and they managed somehow above 100.
A brilliant bowling performance by the Dutch players as they restrict the men in purple to a below par score. Logan van Beek got 3 wickets in his 3.2 overs by giving away only 18 runs. His partner Tim Pringle also bowled brilliantly by dismissing the top order batters by taking 3 wickets in his 4 overs and gave away only 20 runs. Paul van Meekeren and Bas de Leede both got 2 wickets each.
Since the target was not that big, despite this the Dutch team lost Micheal Levitt (1 run) early on. Then Max O’Dowd (54 runs not out) and Vikramjit Singh (22 runs) added 40 runs for the 2nd wicket. Then wickets started to fall from the other end but O’Dowd stood there like a pillar. He played 48 balls and hit 4 fours and a six. This is his 5th T20 World Cup half-century, most by a Dutch player in this tournament.
He along with Bas de Leede (11 runs not out) got the victory.
Despite scoring less runs, Nepal bowlers tried their best to defend the total but missed some chances on the field, otherwise the match might be in their control. Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee and Abinash Bohara got 1 wicket each.
