Teams Analysis

South Africa (SA):

The Proteas started their journey with a win over Sri Lanka. But they needed to be a little more consistent in their batting as they were chasing very low targets, despite this they looked in little trouble. But their bowling was brilliant due to which they got a very low score to chase.

Skipper Aiden Markram’s struggling form continues here also as he only managed 12 runs in 14 balls. He has been out of form since the IPL as he struggled to score runs but this has been continuing here also. He needs to work more on his footwork and need to stabilize the team innings in the middle overs.

Quinton de Kock who is playing his last T20 World Cup scored 20 in 27 balls. He also looked a little uncomfortable in front of the pacers, especially in the bouncers where he was facing little problems. Tristan Stubbs who is known for his hard hitting scored just 13 runs in 12 balls, but still he can do better in the remaining matches as he is in good touch in recent few matches.

The finishing will be done by Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. Both are known for big hits in the death overs. Klaasen, who looked aggressive during the IPL, has a strike rate of 145.01 in the international circuit while Miller has a strike rate of 144.51. Both can easily change the scenario of the match anytime they wanted.

Anrich Nortje who was Player of the Match in the first match due to his brilliant bowling performance. In his 4 overs he got 4 wickets by giving away just 7 runs. His tight bowling destroyed the Lankans to go big. Again the same kind of performance is expected from him. Kagiso Rabada also bowled well as he got 2 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away only 21 runs in his 4 overs. He got one maiden over also in his spell.

Keshav Maharaj got 2 wickets in his 4 overs by conceding 22 runs. He can also contribute with the bat in lower down the orders which he sometimes showed already.

Probable Playing 11 of South Africa (SA):

Aiden Markram ©, Quinton de Kock (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ottneil Baartman.

Netherlands (NED):

A close win registered by the Dutch team against Nepal in their first encounter. Their bowling looked much more balanced than their batting. Despite a close win, this will give them momentum in further matches to perform better.

Skipper Scott Edwards is known for his sharp and calm mind. His presence of mind is highly commendable. But in the first match he got deported after scoring only 5 runs in 8 balls. He is yet to score a 50+ knock with the bat and needs to spend more time there in the middle order, so that the team can get some healthy runs on the board.

The only batter who shine in the first match was Max O’Dowd whose fighting innings took the match in their favour. He scored unbeaten 54 runs in 48 balls in which he hit 4 fours and a six. He can be highly effective again as his recent past performance has been decent. Vikramjit Singh despite struggling with the bat in past few matches he scored 22 hard runs but for that he took 28 balls to reach there. He needs to be a little more aggressive with the bat.

Bas de Leede, who is a brilliant all-rounder from the team, has also shown this in the first match. First with the bowl, he got 2 wickets in his 4 overs by conceding 22 runs. He also got a maiden over in a spell. Then with the bat he helped O’Dowd to get the targeted score after contributing unbeaten 11 runs.

Tim Pringle was the star for the Netherlands as he was the Player of the Match against Nepal, where his tight bowling got him 3 wickets in his 4 overs and he only conceded 20 runs there. His slow spin finds batters hard to understand and in result he got them. Pacers Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeran bowled some fantastic lines and lengths and as a result they got three and two wickets respectively.

Probable Playing 11 of Netherlands (NED):

Scott Edwards (c & wk), Max O’Dowd, Michael Levitt, Vikramjit Singh, Sybrand Engelbrecht,  Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Tim Pringle, Logan van Beek, Paul van Meekeran, Vivian Kingma.

Pitch Report for the match between South Africa (SA) and Netherlands (NED):

The match will be played at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. Already ICC mentioned this pitch to be not up to the standards of international cricket to play on. Therefore many curators are working on this to make it better. There has been uneven bounce in the pitch due to which batters struggled a lot to play shots easily. Despite this, chasing might be a better option here.

Weather Report:

The weather is expected to be clean and sunny as there is no chance of rain. The highest temperature may be around 27 degree celsius while the lowest might drop down to 18 degree celsius. Humidity might be little more than 40%.

Best 11 for the match between South Africa (SA) and Netherlands (NED):

Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Reeza Hendricks, Max O’Dowd, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Logan van Beek, Bas de Leede, Paul van Meekeren, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje.
