Match 64: DC vs LSG | Full Analysis | Pitch Report | Best 11

The 64th match of the tournament between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Kings (LSG). The match between them will start at 7:30 P.M. (IST).

In their previous meet in this season, Jake Fraser-McGurk played his debut match in the IPL and blew away the Lucknow team with his destructive maiden half-century.

Teams Analysis:

Delhi Capitals (DC):

A very little hope for them to play the Playoffs after losing their last match against RCB. They are currently at the 6th place with 12 points in 13 matches. This will be their last match in the group stage and a do or die match for them. If they win the match, then also a very minor chance will be for them to qualify due to the poor net run-rate. So they need to get a big win against LSG.

In just 8 innings, Jake Fraser-McGurk has shown the power of hard hitting as his strike rate surges to 237.41 in the opening. He contributed 330 runs with the bat and has scored 4 half-centuries to his name. In his first match of the IPL, he scored a brilliant half-century against LSG. David Warner has shown little upset with the bat and was unable to make any impact with the bat.

Abhishek Porel though played well against RR where he scored a brilliant 65 runs in the opening. He might again be chosen as an opener along with Jake. His strike rate is 156.40 which will be pretty helpful during the opening. Shai Hope is unable to perform well till now with the highest score being in this season is 41 runs.

Rishabh Pant who missed the last match due to ban from BCCI as he was charged with the slow over-rate, will be seen in this match. He was leading from the front and has been the team’s most runs-scorer this season with 413 runs with 3 half-centuries to his name. Now in this do or die match his performance will be crucial. Tristan Stubbs showed a great spark of destruction in his death overs with the strike rate of 185.55, in which he scored two 50+ knocks.

Axar Patel, with two fifties to his name has managed 221 runs till now. Not only with the bat but also with the bowl he has taken 10 wickets with an economy of 7.37, which is the best economy in the team. He is a key player in the death overs. Rasikh Dar Salam, the other all-rounder in the team has influenced much with his bowling as compared to that from his batting. He got 9 wickets till now but economy being 11.12, which is too high. Despite this he is a partnership breaker which has helped Delhi in some ways.

The pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar are the leading wicket-takers for the team as each of them took 16 wickets each. Both of them make economies much higher as Khaleel is having 9.52 while is having 10.63. Both of them played a vital contribution in Delhi’s win this season with their brilliant bowling especially in the death overs.

Kuldeep Yadav is not behind them as he grabbed 15 wickets till now. The only thing which matters is that his economy is getting little high, which is 8.69.

Probable playing 11 for the match:

Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abhishek Porel, Shai Hope, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Rasikh Dar Salam, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Ishant Sharma.

(Impact Player: Kumar Kushagra)

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

At the start of the season, it was looking a little easy for the team to get into the Playoffs but after losing two matches back to back they are in a position to win both their remaining matches, so that any chances will be there for them to reach the next round. With 12 points, they are currently in 6th place in the points table.

KL Rahul, the leader of the team has scored 460 runs which is the most in their team. He has a strike rate of 136.09 and has hit 3 half-centuries till now. The only thing he needs to improve is his strike rate, as he sometimes gets too slow and couldn’t get the desired output. On the other hand, Quinton de Kock’s first half was better than the second half of the tournament. In the 2nd half he was barely seen getting good knocks. With 3 half-centuries he has 238 runs in 10 innings he played.

Marcus Stoinis has impressed the number position in batting as he was contributing well in this department. With 355 runs he scored one century and two half-centuries. His strike rate is also good as it touches 151.71. With the bowl, he has 4 wickets to his name. Nicholas Pooran is mostly consistent with his runs scoring for the team in the death overs and has contributed a total 363 runs till now with a strike rate above 160+.

Ayush Badoni also has two fifties to his name and the last came against SRH where he scored unbeaten 55 runs. He has managed 207 runs in 10 innings. Krunal Pandya has some better performances in his bowling while in batting he did not perform up to the mark. He has 5 wickets to his name with an economy of 7.63.

Bowling has been their problem in most of the matches, as the bowlers didn’t carry much experience due to which the match slips from their hands mostly. Yash Thakur has taken most wickets to 11 to his name. But the economy is too poor, which is 11.32.

Naveen-ul-Haq has taken 10 wickets in 8 matches. While Mohsin Khan and Ravi Bishnoi have 9 and 7 wickets respectively.

Probably playing 11 for the Match:

KL Rahul (c/wk), Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Yash Thakur, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mohsin Khan.

(Impact Player: Kyle Mayers)

Pitch Report:

The match will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Though this ground has witnessed 200+ runs in 7 innings out of 8 in this season, the result goes in favour of team batting first. The 4 matches that were played in this season have been won by team batting first. But still chasing might be an easy option if the target will be less than 200.

Weather Report:

A full sunny day will be there and no chance if rain is expected. The highest will be 41 degree celsius during the daytime and it will go down to 28 degree celsius at night. The humidity will be around less than 20%.

Best 11 for the Match:

KL Rahul (vc), Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, Quinton de Kock, Jake Fraser-McGurk ©, Tristan Stubbs, Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Naveen-ul-Haq.
