GAW didn’t start well and both of their openers Saim Ayub (7 runs) and Hazratullah Zazai (0 run)  were out in the first two overs.  At one time Warriors were 76-4 in 10 overs. Then after that 99 runs partnership stands between Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul. Hetmyer after starting defensive shows his firing skills later on. Imad Wasim made 63 runs in just 36 balls including 3 fours and 5 sixes. Fabien made 47 runs in 25 balls and hit 6 large sixes. In 18.4 overs they managed to put 176 runs and lose all the wickets.

Romario Shepherd not only grabbed 3 wickets but also provided an economical spell of 7 runs in 3 overs. Junior Sinclair and Dwaine Pretorius both get 2 wickets each. Gudakesh Motie and Imran Tahir got 1 wicket each but both of them were highly expensive in their spells. Both of them gave away 52 runs in 4 overs.

Romario Shepherd, GAW, Player of the Match

“My hardwork is the key to my success. Keemo Paul played a fantastic innings under pressure. Fitness is a very key part of my game, I train very hard and try to condition myself, especially on days like these when it’s very hot. It’s about having that fight in you. We have been going to the final and semi-final but haven’t made it. It’s about keeping up the fight.”

Brandon King, JT Captain

“We sent for an extra spinner but there wasn’t much in it for them in the end. We didn’t bowl as consistently as we wanted to. We could’ve probably chased it down though if we kept wickets in hand. They didn’t start very well either so we knew we could catch up if we kept some wickets in hand but it was very hard to recover after losing 5 wickets in the first 7 overs. Getting to 170 from where we were was quite incredible. Credit to Allen and Wasim. Alex Hales is ready to go from here on.”

Imran Tahir, GAW Captain

“I like to play cricket with pride and set standards. I work hard. Very pleased to see I ran and took two catches, pleased with myself. Our base is the lower middle order. We want a couple of overseas guys at the top. We are confident in any situation. Hetmyer and Keemo Paul got us out of trouble. Very pleased with Paul, he batted really well despite not getting opportunities to bat in the previous games.

We were lucky to get wickets in the powerplay, that put us in front. I want to look at myself to improve, that’s the standard I set for myself and the team. I think Motie bowled well. He got a little unlucky as 2-3 catches just went over. Boundaries are small and we have to accept them. Bowlers are going to go for runs. Life is all about challenges. I’ve been given this opportunity and I’m grateful to Guyana. I want to do my best for Guyana and their fans. I want to give the joy back.”
