KL Rahul not in LSG’s IPL 2025 plans!

One of the best batsmen for the Indian team, KL Rahul might play for different franchise in the upcoming IPL 2025. Currently he is the leader of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL.

A huge rift was seen between him and the owner of the team Sanjiv Goenka, during the last season after the team got a humiliating defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). A clip became viral after the match in which it showed that after the match Goenka talked to Rahul in an angry way and was not happy with the performance. Rahul kept on explaining the situation but the owner of the team didn’t look satisfied and threw some angry reaction to the skipper.

After the video got viral and a huge backlash was faced by the owner, Mr Sanjiv hosted a dinner for the skipper in his home at New Delhi and dismissed all the rifts that were going on social media between him and Rahul.

Although after the dinner, things went positive between them but the assistant coach of the team, Lance Klusener, revealed that the team is not certain about the future of Rahul and no discussions have been made yet about it,

“I don't see any problem with some robust discussion between two cricket lovers. So for us, I guess it's just a storm in a teacup. We love a robust discussion. I think that's how teams get better. So, it's not a big thing for us.”

According to some reports in the Dainik Jagran, it is speculated that KL might play for another franchise in the upcoming season and might be again seen in his old franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Rahul earlier got his first call from RCB in 2013 and was later picked by SRH in 2014 but he again made a comeback in Bengaluru in 2016 and imposed a huge impact in that season. After then he became the skipper of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2018 till 2021 and was bought by LSG in the 2021 season.

Bengaluru is also his homeground, which will provide some advantages for him if he gets to play for RCB. Bengaluru is also in need of a skipper as Faf du Plessis touched 40 and his presence in the team is not clear yet.

KL has scored 4683 runs in 132 matches, where he has hit 4 centuries and 37 half-centuries till now. In the 2020 season, he scored 670 runs in 14 matches and has an average of 55.83 with a strike rate of 129.34. In that season he hit one century and five half-centuries and got the orange cap.
